Comparison: xiaomi red rice 1s vs samsung galaxy s5
Table of contents:
In the morning of today we rescued from our recent archive a titan of the current market such as the Samsung Galaxy S5 to measure his forces against the Chinese terminal Xiaomi Red Rice 1S. Both phones have excellent specifications and although many will imagine that the Samsung model wins this pulse, what we really want to "measure" with each of our comparisons is the value for money of each of the terminals, being able to base ourselves on each of its benefits to reach a correct conclusion about which of them wins in this regard. So, we begin:
Technical characteristics:
Designs: the Samsung model has measures of 142 mm high x 72.5 mm wide x 8.1 mm thick and weighs 145 grams, so it has a size somewhat higher than the Xiaomi, which has measures 137mm high x 69mm wide x 9.9mm thick. The Red Rice has a resistant plastic finish that gives it a certain robustness. We find it available in gray color. The Galaxy features a rear with small perforations that provide comfort in the grip. Its fingerprint scanner gives it great security. We can find it available in white, black, gold and blue. The Samsung also has resistance to water and dust.
Screens: the 4.7 inches of the Xiaomi fall a little short next to the 5.1 inches that the Galaxy contains. They do not coincide in resolution either, being 1920 x 1080 pixels in the case of the Samsung and 1280 x 720 pixels if we are referring to the Xiaomi. The Red Rice has IPS technology, which gives it an almost full viewing angle and very vivid colors, while the Samsung features super AMOLED technology , allowing it to consume less energy, have more brightness and reflect less light from the Sun. Its screens are protected from accidents thanks to its Corning Gorilla Glass 2 crystals in the case of the Xiaomi and Gorilla Glass 3 if we refer to the Galaxy.
Processors: The Xiaomi is backed by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC that runs at 1.6 GHz, while the Galaxy S5 has a Quad-core CPU that runs at 2.5 GHz. They coincide in presenting an Adreno graphics chip, model 305 for Red Rice and model 330 in the case of Samsung. The RAM memory that the Xiaomi presents is 1 GB, this capacity being doubled by the Samsung, which presents 2 GB. The MIUI V5 operating system (based on 4.3) makes an appearance on the Red Rice, while Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat does the same with the S5.
Cameras: The main objective of the Samsung is 16 megapixels, being superior to that of the Xiaomi and its 8 megapixels, both with LED flash. In the case of the Samsung we also have functions such as Selective Focus (clearly capturing what you want, giving depth and professionalism to your snapshots), higher speed between shots, and a very accurate light sensor. They are also not the same in terms of their front cameras, containing 1.3 megapixels in the case of the Xiaomi and 2 megapixels in the case of the Galaxy, which will always come in handy for making video calls and self-photos. Video recording is performed at 1080p HD and 30 fps in the case of the Xiaomi and in UHD 4K quality at 30 fps if we refer to the S5.
Internal memories: while the Red Rice has a single model on the market with 8 GB of ROM, the Galaxy S5 has two terminals for sale: one of 16 GB and the other of 32 GB. These storages can be expanded up to 32 GB in the case of the Xiaomi and up to 128 GB if we refer to the S5 thanks to its microSD card slots. In relation to the other characteristics, their autonomies should not be as far apart as could be expected.
Batteries: The 2000 mAh of capacity contained in the battery of the Chinese Smartphone falls quite short next to the 2800 mAh that the Galaxy brings. They are notably superior to that of the Xiaomi and its 2000 mAh. The powers of one and the other model can compensate for this difference by making their autonomies quite similar.
Connectivity: in this aspect, the two smartphones have more basic connections such as 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth, although in the case of Samsung we also have LTE / 4G technology, so fashionable in high-end terminals.
Availability and price:
The Xiaomi can be found on the Amazon website at a price of around 125 euros, while the Galaxy S5 we can say that it is for sale in pc components for a much higher price of 499 euros, and that we are talking about its version 16 GB, and in various colors.
