It is the turn of our long-awaited Motorola Moto G to "appear" in our "ring", "court" or whatever you want to call it… private. One of the greats of Motorola returns to the Professional Review ready to measure his strength against the Xiaomi Redmi Note. This Chinese terminal lands on the market with specifications that little or nothing have to envy to phones of higher ranges and for a price that you would hardly imagine. Now as always, we will expose each of the characteristics of these smartphones and then you will be in charge of evaluating their value for money. Let us begin!:
Technical characteristics:
Design: the Xiaomi Redmi Note is larger, with dimensions of 154 mm high x 78.7 mm wide x 9.45 mm thick. The Moto G has dimensions of 129.9 mm high x 65.9 mm wide x 11.6 mm thick and weighs 143 grams. The Motorola model has two protective housings: one called the "Grip Shell " with small "stops" that facilitate placing the smartphone face down avoiding scratches, and another casing known as the " Flip Shell " that allows the device to be closed completely, with An opening on the part of the screen to be able to use it without any problem. In the case of the Xiaomi, we are talking about a body made of resistant plastic, black on the front and white on the back.
Screens: The 4.5 inches of the Moto G are quite small next to the 5.5 inches that the Xiaomi screen presents. They do share a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. In the case of the Chinese terminal, we have IPS technology in mind, which gives it a wide viewing angle and highly defined colors.
Cameras: The rear lens of the Xiaomi presents 13 megapixels, more than double that of the Moto G, which brings with it 5 megapixels, both with LED flash. The situation is repeated with its front cameras, being 1.3 megapixels in the case of the Motorola model and 5 megapixels if we refer to the Xiaomi. The two phones make video recordings in Full HD 1080p quality at 30 fps in the case of the Chinese Smartphone and in HD 720p quality if we refer to the Moto G.
Processors: The Moto G has a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC that runs at 1.2 GHz and an Adreno 305 GPU . Its RAM is 1 GB. The Xiaomi for its part has two models for sale: one with a Mediatek 6592 Octa-core CPU that runs at 1.4 GHz, and another with the same processor but that runs at 1.7 GHz. They have the same graphics chip: Mali-450, but different RAM memory: 1 GB and 2 GB respectively. The MIU V5 operating system (based on 4.2 Jelly Bean) accompanies the Chinese terminal, while the Motorola model is backed by Android in version 4.3 Jelly Bean.
Connectivity: the two Smartphones have basic connections such as 3G , WiFi or Bluetooth , without the 4G / LTE technology making an appearance.
Internal Memories: despite the fact that both the Moto G and the Xiaomi have a model of 8 GB of ROM, in the case of the Motorola terminal there is another 16 GB. The Redmi features a microSD card slot of up to 32GB, while the Motorola termin packs in a free 50GB storage on Google Drive.
Batteries: The capacity of 3200 mAh presented by the Chinese model overwhelmingly exceeds 2070 mAh of the non-removable battery of the Moto G. The lower processor power of the Motorola model will somewhat offset the autonomy of this terminal compared to that of the Xiaomi, with a more powerful processor.
Availability and price:
The Xiaomi is available depending on the model for 160 - 170 euros (in the case of 1.4 GHz and 1 GB of RAM) and hovering around 200 euros in the case of 1.7 GHz and 2 GB of RAM. The Moto G can be ours from the pccomponentes website for 145 - 197 euros depending on the model.
