Set vlc as default player in windows 10

VLC is known as one of the best video players, for its simplicity of use, how light it is to work on less powerful computers and for its compatibility with most video formats without the need to install codecs of any kind.

As we know, Windows 10 already has a default application to watch video with 'Movies and TV' and play audio with 'Groove Music'. In the case of video playback, the application that comes by default is very limited, that's where VLC Media Player comes in.

Here we tell you how to make Windows 10 play video directly in VLC and not with the default application.

VLC Media Player as default player in Windows 10

What we are going to do is leave the VideoLan player as the default application to play all kinds of video on the computer, for this we do the following.

• Once we have the VLC player installed on the computer (we can download VLC from here) we will go to the section of Computer Configuration Located in Configuration we go to System - Default applications

  

  A list will appear as in the screenshot above, there we will click on the Video Player icon When we click, a context menu will open where we have to choose the player to replace the default option, we will choose VLC Media Player

  

  After a few seconds Windows will assign all the video formats to the chosen application so that they play with the default one.
