Intel recently wrapped up an event for local Chinese distributors, after which someone posted one of the presentation slides confirming the models for the new 8th generation Coffee Lake processor range.

The new leak also points to Intel replacing several of the current models as you can see below:

  • The 4-core, 8-core Intel Core i7 will be replaced by the 6-core, 12-core Core i7. The 4-core, 4-core Core i5 will be replaced by a 6-core, 6-core Core i5. 2 cores and 4 threads will be replaced by a 4 core and 4 threads Core i3.

Thus, the new updates represent one of the biggest improvements received by the Intel Core series in recent years.

On the other hand, the newly leaked slide also points to performance increases per core ranging from 11 to 29 percent thanks to higher clock frequencies and new micro architecture. In addition, there is also an increase in multi-core performance of between 51 and 65 percent thanks to the greater number of cores.

Although these platforms will replace various Intel Core Kaby Lake models and take their prices, we would not be surprised if Intel increased prices due to the greater number of cores present in the processors.

The eighth generation of the Intel Core processors will have the best processor as the Intel Core i7-8700K, with 6 cores, 12 threads with HyperThreading, 12 MB of shared cache L3 and an unlock multiplier.

PC enthusiasts can also go for the Core i5-8600K, which comes with 6 cores and 6 threads with a 9MB L3 cache, in addition to having an unlocked multiplier. Finally, there will be a third SKU, the 4-core, 4-core Core i3-8350K, which could arrive in late 2017 or early 2018 with the possibility of overclocking.
