Intel's immediate response to the new AMD Ryzen processors will be the "Basin Falls" platform that will include the new Core i7-7740K and Core i5-7640K processors and will be officially announced on June 12.

Intel is the largest sponsor of the PC Gaming Show event of PC Gamer magazine, this takes place at the end of the third quarter of the year and we can wait for the official announcement of the new Intel platform to stand up to some Ryzen processors that have already made it lose money.

Intel will launch the Core i7-7740K and Core i5-7640K together with a new platform based on the X299 chipset and the LGA 2066 socket, it is expected that during the event or in the very near future we will also see the first motherboards of the new platform. Both processors are based on the Core i7-7700K and Core i5-7600K although they reach higher frequencies, without integrated graphics and with better multi-GPU support thanks to the presence of 28 PCI-Express 3.0 tracks.

Hopefully, these new processors will come with a much improved die-IHS junction so their overclocking potential and temperatures reached will be much better than the current Core i7-7700K and Core i5-7600K, it will also be the first time we see a Core i5 on Intel's high-performance platform.
