We continue talking about the Intel Core-i9 processors that will arrive to fight with the AMD Ryzen Threadripper, this time it is the Core i9-7920X that reaches a configuration of 12 cores and 24 threads, the same as the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X processor so that once again it will be the most efficient architecture that takes the victory.

The Intel Core i9-7920X sees how its 12 cores operate at a base speed of 2.9 GHz that reaches 4 GHz in turbo mode, its characteristics continue with an amount of L2 cache of 12 MB and an L3 cache of 16, 5 MB. All this translates into a 140W TDP that can seem very high, but it is not so much to be a very powerful processor. This Core i9-7920X also offers 44 PCI Express lanes that contrast with the 64 lanes that all Threadripper chips offer and which should be a clear advantage in multi-GPU configurations and with many NVMe disks.

The main obstacle to overcome of the Core i9-7920X will be its official price of $ 1, 199, much higher than the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X, which could be somewhat less powerful but whose official price will be $ 799, so the relationship between each euro invested and the performance obtained is again much higher in the case of AMD. Also in favor of AMD will be an X399 platform that is expected to be cheaper than Intel's X299.

It is undoubtedly excellent news for all users that AMD has returned to the HEDT segment thanks to its Zen core, a highly competitive design that has meant a change of 180º compared to Bulldozer.
