Core i9 8950hk impresses with its mono performance
Table of contents:
The first Intel 6-core laptop processors are almost ready for launch. Thanks to the introduction of unlocked Core i9 processors in notebooks, we will get a huge boost in the performance of these computers. The first results of the new Core i9 8950HK, Core i7 8850H and Core i7 8750H have already appeared.
Core i9 8950HK catches up to the Core i7-8700K single-threaded
The first 6-core Intel notebook processors are the Core i9 8950HK, Core i7 8850H, and Core i7 8750H. All of them with a TDP of 45W, so the power consumption will be quite tight for what they offer. The Core i9 8950HK has the multiplier unlocked for overclocking.

The leak from a Chinese website shows that the Core i9-8950HK achieves a score of 204 points in the Cinebench R15 single-core test. This result puts it almost on par with the desktop Core i7-8700K, which is impressive considering that we are comparing a 45W chip with one that is over 90W. As for multi-core performance, the i9-8950HK falls below 8850H and 8750H, the reason is unknown, it could be from the TDP limit to the test platform used.
The Core i9-8950HK is capable of a clock frequency of up to 4800 MHz, while the Core i7-8850H makes do with some highly commendable 4200 MHz. The former operates at a higher voltage of 1.37V compared to 1.285V for the latter. Hopefully, over the next few days, we will have new data on the benefits of these new processors, which Intel is preparing for new generation laptops, we will be watching.
