Radeon r9 480 impresses in performance
Table of contents:
We continue to see new leaks on the new AMD Polaris graphics cards and we found excellent news that shows us the good work of the Radeon R9 480 and its powerful and efficient Ellesmere GPU.
AMD Radeon R9 480 shows great performance on GFXBench
The Radeon R9 480 will arrive to replace the current R9 390X and has already shown its good work in GFXBench where it has shown a performance very similar to that of the Radeon R9 390X based on the Hawaii GPU. Excellent news for a card that should be priced at around 200-250 euros and consumes half the power of the 390X.
The Radeon R9 490 for its part would come with benefits very similar to those of the GeForce GTX 980Ti as we pointed out a few days ago. This card would be around 350 euros and would put AMD's own Radeon R9 Fury X in check by achieving a very similar performance but with a lower price and consuming less energy.
Some excellent results although let's not forget that GFXBench runs on OpenGl so we will have to wait for the most popular tests based on DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 to get a more reliable idea of its benefits, although nobody can doubt that Polaris is aiming quite high.
