Corsair is one of the best manufacturers worldwide of all kinds of PC components and peripherals. Among its vast and wide catalog we find some of the best chassis on the market such as the new Corsair 460X Crystal that they have given us for analysis. An interesting tower that will allow us to accommodate a very high-end equipment and with appealing additions such as an advanced RGB LED lighting system and a large tempered glass in one of its panels.

Corsair 460X Crystal technical characteristics

Unboxing and analysis

The Corsair 460X Crystal comes to us inside a large brown cardboard box in which we find the model name, an image and the most important specifications. The back of the box includes an expanded view of the chassis in which we are shown in more detail some of its most notable features.

The chassis is covered in plastic and very well accommodated by various corks to prevent it from deteriorating during transport and reaching the user in the best possible conditions. We also find a bag with all the necessary screws for mounting.

We already focus our eyes on the Corsair 460X Crystal and appreciate a chassis that does justice to its name, we find a lot of tempered glass in the form of a side panel and a front panel that give it a very attractive and quite differentiating aesthetic compared to what we are used to. to see in the market. The great abundance of glass gives it a high-end chassis appearance that we love.

The negative point of the glass front is that we lose the possibility of mounting an optical drive in this part, it is true that they are increasingly used but there are still a large number of users who are interested in them.

The opposite side presents a traditional steel panel that will allow us to manage the wiring in a fairly advanced way to achieve a very clean assembly that does not harm the air flow, something that is always appreciated and could not be missing in a product of a maker of Corsair carving.

At the top of the chassis we find a traditional fairly complete I / O panel, we find controls to turn the equipment on and off, a reset button, two USB 3.0 ports and 3.5 mm jack ports for audio and micro. We also find the options to control the lighting system and the three fans installed on the front , we can use the same controls to control the lighting of the fans that we add extra, provided they have clear light. We can add up to three additional fans for a maximum of six installed.

Corsair has thought of everyone and has installed magnetic dust filters on the top and for the power supply, these are easily removable to allow cleaning and to continue doing their work always like the first day.

In the back we find space for a fan or a 120 mm radiator that will take care of removing the hot air. We see multiple holes that will allow us to adjust the position of the fan or radiator to make it easier to use. We found seven expansion slots and enough honeycomb punched metal to improve airflow. Finally the power supply is installed at the bottom, the best position to do so.

Interior and more detail

To access the interior of the Corsair 460X Crystal we only need to remove four hand screws. As in all chassis with a tempered glass panel, the screws are accompanied by rubber protectors to prevent the screw from damaging the glass when we tighten it, this also eliminates vibrations to avoid unpleasant noises.

The interior of the Corsair 460X Crystal has a fairly standard design, we find the three 120mm fans pre-installed and with an RGB LED lighting system. These fans can be controlled from the top panel.

We also see the cover of the power supply, this is responsible for hiding the cables and provides a much cleaner and tidier aesthetic .

From the inside we can see that the upper part includes space and holes for mounting a 240mm or 280mm radiator, once again we see holes that allow the radiator to be moved to better accommodate it. Although we see a pretty fat failure… even if it incorporates three serial fans, why not incorporate a rear fan?

Removing the front panel is also very simple and similar to removing the side panel, we remove a few screws and we can now remove the front. The surprise is that we also found a dust filter so we see that Corsair has not spared in this regard.

Below the space for the motherboard we find space to install three 2.5-inch hard drives and the bays for the installation of two 3.5-inch hard drives without tools.

Assembly and observations

One of my surprises with the Corsair 460X Crystal has been a quick and fairly clean assembly. It is also true that on an aesthetic level it is a design similar to that of the Corsair 400C that we have already analyzed this year. We have opted for a high-end computer with an i7-6700k processor , 16GB of DDR4 memory, GTX 1080, 850W power supply and a 250GB SSD disk, making it a quality and low- noise configuration.

It allows us to install a heatsink of up to 170 cm in height, in our heatsink it does not reach that height and the result is really speaks for itself only in the image.

Although in our GTX 1080 is one of the best graphics cards that exists to date. The box allows us to install any graphics card on the market, as long as it is a maximum of 37 cm long.

The power supply does not offer any problems, since the cabin is compatible in a total of up to 20 cm. In our case we have mounted a Corsair AX860i, but we can mount any power supply of 1000, 1250 or 1500W without any problem.

Then I leave you several images of the assembly of the equipment, enjoy it.

Final words and conclusion about Corsair 460X Crystal

The Corsair 460X Crystal is one of the most beautiful and aesthetically designed cases we've tested to date. The tempered glass on both the front and the main window… wins our hearts.

Its design is identical to that of the Corsair 400C that we analyzed, with which we ended up very happy for its performance and great air flow. In this case, it has three Corsair SP120 RGB series fans and we can control it from the control panel.

We recommend that we can mount graphics cards up to 37 cm long, heatsinks with a height of 17 cm and power supplies with a length of 20 cm. So we can assemble high-end components and with custom liquid cooling without any problem.

In our temperature tests, we have found almost no difference from a metal case. Having a very thick glass and enough areas that leave the air, ventilation is perfect. Of course, in our configuration we have had to add a rear fan to improve air flow. Lowering a total of 3ºC in the main components.

We recommend reading our guide to the best liquid coolers, heatsinks and fans for PC.

Officially there is availability in Spain for your purchase for 164 euros the RGB version or 129 without the front fans. Looking at the price, I think that the version with RGB fans compensates much more, since the pack is worth about 60 euros… And then it is easier to expand it with a rear fan. Did you like it as much as we do?
