Corsair Crystal 280X RGB is a spectacular Micro ATX chassis that seeks to offer a high quality and very attractive alternative to fans of modest-size PCs. This chassis bets on tempered glass, and a double internal chamber design that will help you achieve a much cleaner assembly and a flawless finish.

Unboxing and design

The Corsair Crystal 280X RGB chassis is offered with the usual presentation of the brand, with a large cardboard box in which the product comes fully protected. Two large pieces of foam ensure that it sits perfectly, to avoid movement during transport, something that is especially important in a model like this, with a large amount of tempered glass.

Along with the chassis we find documentation and all the accessories, which are very few since they do not require tools for the equipment assembly.

Corsair Crystal 280X RGB is a Micro ATX chassis that is built with the best quality SECC steel and 4mm thick tempered glass , something that gives it a formidable appearance and makes it clear that we are in front of a great product.

The manufacturer has included glass panels on the front, top and left side, thanks to which we can easily see everything that is hidden inside.

The great innovation of this Corsair Crystal 280X RGB is its double internal chamber design, which will allow us to hide all the wiring in the best possible way, enhancing aesthetics, and a totally clean air flow from turbulence.

The secondary bay also includes hard drive bays, allowing the mounting of two 3.5 "drives and three 2.5" drives and the power supply. This is very important in high-end systems, since its components generate a lot of heat and need the best possible cooling. All hard drives are mounted without tools.

In the upper front corner is the I / O panel, which includes two USB 3.0 ports along with the 3.5mm connectors for audio and micro and the power and reset button.

In the rear area we see the classic four expansion slots of this tower format, the 120mm fan and the power supply area at the bottom. This chassis allows us to mount a source with a length of up to 225 mm, which is sure to be compatible with the most advanced models on the market.

To conclude with the exterior design we leave you a picture of the back area. We see how it incorporates four rubber feet that adhere very well to any surface and a filter to prevent dust from entering the inside of the chassis.

Interior and assembly

The design of the Corsair Crystal 280X RGB is very elegant, something that will make it look good in any location, it is an ideal model for users who are looking for something with a simple design, as well as modern and innovative. At this point it seems to us that it is the best of Corsair, which is saying a lot.

On the front it offers the possibility of mounting two 120/140 mm fans or a radiator up to 240 mm.

To this is added the support for two 120/140 mm fans in the upper area or a 280 mm radiator, the rear 120 mm fan and the possibility of putting two 120/140 mm fans in the lower area, although these last only if we put a Mini ITX motherboard .

Standard comes with two Corsair SP120 fans, one on the front and one on the top, both include RGB LED lighting controllable by Corsair iCUE software and the included Lighting Node Pro controller.

At the bottom we can see the 4 expansion slots, being compatible with microATX motherboards, and that we have a very good cable router. The aesthetics as seen is great and the finishes are excellent.

Inside the main camera we will mount the motherboard, being compatible with Micro ATX and Mini ITX models. In this area will also go the processor heatsink, with a maximum height of 150 mm, and the graphics card, supporting models up to 300 mm in length.

In the secondary compartment it will go to the power supply next to the hard drives, this division allows to achieve an extremely clean and very well organized assembly, so that from the outside you will only see the motherboard, the heatsink, the RAM and the graphics card. Something we miss is the possibility of mounting the graphics card vertically, which would be great to enhance the aesthetic.

As always, we leave you some images with the assembly of one of our test bench equipment. On this occasion, we have chosen ASRock X299M Extreme4, 32 GB DDR4 @ 3200 MHz, Intel Core i9-7900X ten cores, an AMD Radeon RX 64 VEGA graphics card.

As expected, we have not had any complications during the assembly of the equipment. Having the chassis divided into two zones helps us to improve air flow and the organization of all wiring. It allows us to perfectly mount a liquid cooling in the upper area and another in the front, since we have enough space and we will not have any problem. The truth, that we have finished very happy.

Final words and conclusion about Corsair Crystal 280X RGB

The Corsair Crystal 280X RGB is a super compact chassis with a brutal aesthetic. It is fully compatible with microATX and ITX format boards, high-end graphics cards and a dual compact liquid cooling system.

To highlight its small dimensions 398 x 276 x 351 mm, its design in white or black, RGB lighting system and the possibility of installing 30 cm graphics cards.

Regarding cooling, it has the possibility of installing a heatsink with a height of 15 cm or two liquid cooling systems of 240 mm or 280 mm both on the front and on the roof of the chassis. In our case we have installed it on the front to create a good air current.

Another of its most notable features is its compatibility with your iCUE software, which we have already seen in many products. This application allows us to coordinate the lighting of our computer and peripherals with 16.8 million colors. We love!

At the moment it is not available in Spain and its price should be around 130 euros approximately (110 dollars in the United States). Seeing everything it offers, it seems to us one of the best chassis on the market. Great Corsair job!
