The Corsair Carbide Air 740 comes to us in a large cardboard box that details all its most important characteristics on the different faces. We open the cardboard box and find the chassis very well protected by cork pieces to prevent its movement and a plastic bag to protect it from scratches.

The new Corsair Carbide Air 740 chassis is slightly lower in height than the Air 540 model but is deeper and wider by one or two centimeters. Thus the Corsair Carbide Air 740 is presented with dimensions of 340 x 510 x 426 and a weight of 8.9 Kg that derives from the use of steel and plastic for its construction.

First of all, we see its front panel that presents several ports in the form of 2 USB 3.0 for the connection of peripherals and external hard drives at high speed, 3.5 mm jack connectors for audio and microphone and the relevant power and reset buttons that we usually use. Find in all chassis on the market.

We continue with the presence of a large tempered glass side window so that the most foodies can contemplate their hardware in all its splendor while it is working, for something it is becoming increasingly difficult to find components without an advanced configurable LED lighting system, it would be a shame not being able to enjoy it for not having a box with a window so Corsair has thought about it and has put a very large one in its Corsair Carbide Air 740 model.

The overall design of the chassis shows a lot of quality, although there are some parts where more attention could have been paid, especially if we consider that we are dealing with a chassis with a market price of approximately 130 euros. The metal surrounding the front panel is weaker than the one used in the rest of the chassis, in addition to the fact that it does not have a controller for the speed of the fans, something that is strange because it has been present in other chassis more inexpensive like the Corsair Carbide 600C, for example. The upper area can be removed to quickly clean the fans.

Like the upper area we can remove the protective ABS plastic to access the chassis through the lower area of ​​the box. The result is as follows:

Corsair Carbide Air 740 Interior

We now look inside the Corsair Carbide Air 740 and we see a chassis with a very large space and in which much detail has been put into details such as an excellent cable management system.

Its design has been thought to allow the installation of the maximum number of fans possible, for this the brand has decided to eliminate the 5.25-inch bays and has also dispensed with the 3.5-inch bays at the bottom, thereby saving precious space to allow up to three 120mm fans or two 140mm fans to be placed on the base.

Speaking of fans, the Corsair Carbide Air 740 comes standard with a total of three 140mm fans, two of them at the front and the rest at the rear. These included fans are quite quiet and will provide a remarkable ventilation setting for many users. Possibly the three included fans are more than enough for configurations with high-end graphics cards. But if we want to get EXTRA performance we can replace with better performance units and we can also install additional fans in the form of 3 x 140mm or 2 x 140mm at the bottom and 2 x 140mm / 120mm at the top.

The abundance of honeycomb-shaped metal undoubtedly helps achieve a more abundant airflow to lower hardware operating temperatures. Corsair has put dust filters on the front and in the area of ​​the power supply to protect these elements as much as possible from the accumulation of dust that would make cooling difficult.

Liquid cooling fans are also well served with the Corsair Carbide Air 740, this case accommodates a 360mm or 280mm radiator at the front and a 240mm or 280mm radiator at the top, in both cases there is enough space to be able to mount a unit with a thickness of 45 mm. With this, an excellent customized liquid cooling circuit can be configured that will help us keep the temperatures of our hardware controlled and we will be able to extract more performance. The chassis offers a lot of free space around the CPU to be able to install a block of water in a much simpler way than in most modern chassis today, the installation of the other components will also be very simple, thus demonstrating that the Corsair Carbide Air 740 is a chassis with a strong commitment to liquid cooling.

Now it is time to tell you about the other area of ​​the Corsair Carbide Air 740. First of all we see that we have the possibility to isolate the main hardware from the less relevant peripherals in view and thus improve air flow.

First of all we find a 2.5 ″ hard disk booth that is completely removable and allows us a total of 4 SSD disks.

While we have in the upper area another cabin with its assembly / disassembly of each bay. In this area we can only install 3.5 ″ hard drives.

The power supply is one of the most important components, if not the most important. With the Corsair Air 740 we will not have any problem since it allows us to install any PSU on the market.

It even incorporates a system to fix it with a plate to the box.

Experience and assembly

We have been able to do the assembly almost in record time since in just 30 minutes we had everything assembled to test it. As you can see we have used the AM3 platform and a RX 470 graphics card from the latest batch.

In addition to the liquid cooling possibilities:

The equipment allows us to install graphics cards with a length of 33 cm (it can be any one on the market), it allows to install heatsinks with a maximum length of 17 cm and power supplies up to 22.4 cm.

We loved the entire layout of the second compartment. Everything simple, fast and easily accessible. We liked this box a lot because it works very easily and intuitively with it.

Final words and conclusion about Corsair Carbide Air 740

The Corsair Carbide 740 Air is a quality box and with great features to install high-end hardware. It is true that its construction in plastic (of first quality, of course) and internal metal, is not as precious as it could be in brushed aluminum, it offers a touch of charm and at the same time ease of cleaning.

Its double compartment design allows us to organize the wiring more, have enough space to install any component and without any limitation. Great Corsair job!

Two of its strongest points are its great possibilities of installing air cooling as a liquid. The latter allows up to three radiators: triple on the front, double on the ceiling and double on the floor . The second advantage is the wide access to the components thanks to its methacrylate window.
