Corsair is one of the manufacturers of PC peripherals that innovates the most, a proof of this is the Corsair Dark Core RGB SE mouse and the Corsair MM1000 mat, which are the perfect complement to each other. With this set we have a high-performance wireless mouse and a mat that serves as a charging base, both with Qi technology to make the process as comfortable as possible for the user. Of course, they lack nothing to be fashionable, for example its complete RGB LED lighting system.

First of all, we thank Corsair for the trust placed in transferring the product to us for analysis.
Corsair Dark Core RGB SE and Corsair MM1000 technical characteristics
Unboxing and design
Both the Corsair Dark Core RGB SE mouse and the Corsair MM1000 mouse pad are presented in cardboard boxes with high-quality printing. Images of the products are shown on the front.
While in the back all its most important characteristics and specifications are detailed in several languages, including Spanish.
Both products have been created for users who are looking for a wireless mouse with the best features and without the inconvenience of having to connect the cable to charge their battery every time it runs out, since the inclusion of Qi technology makes everything easier and confortable. In his bundle includes:
- Corsair Dark Core RGB SE Mouse Quick GuideUSB connection and microUSB adapterFin exchange for mouseRecharge cable
Corsair Dark Core RGB SE is one of the best gaming mice that we can find on the market, this model is equipped with a PixArt PWM 3360 optical sensor of maximum precision and that is capable of reaching a sensitivity of 16, 000 DPI, with this it is a mouse prepared to work in all conditions and will adapt to the demands of all users.
This mouse works wirelessly, for this we can make use of bluetooth 4.2 technology or its own 2.4 GHz USB receiver. The important thing is that Corsair has achieved a wireless system that is free of latency, which is why it offers a polling rate of 1000 Hz, the same that wired mice achieve and that will make you have no lag in your games.
This mouse is powered by a 950 mAh lithium battery that reaches a range of 16 hours with lighting and 20 hours without lighting, more than enough to complete a work or play day without problems. To recharge this battery we will use the Corsair MM1000 mat as we will see later.
Corsair Dark Core RGB SE is based on a design optimized for the right hand, the mouse reaches dimensions of 126.8 mm x 89.2 mm x 43.2 mm and weighs 128 grams. It is not the lightest mouse on the market, something that could already be intuited by including a battery, despite it is weight it is still very tight, we have seen mice without batteries that weigh much more so the brand has done an excellent job in this sense.
At the top we find the two main buttons next to the scroll wheel, on the left button we see that two additional small buttons have been included, these are fully programmable. This concept means that we have more functions at our fingertips, although it is also true that it will be easier to press them by mistake, we will have to see in tests how it behaves.
On the right side we have three programmable buttons, we also see a thumb rest area, something that will undoubtedly make this mouse much easier to use. This area is finished in rubber to offer a better grip on the hand and prevent the mouse from flying out in sudden movements.
The left side is free although we can change the panel for the other attached, with it we will have a base to support the thumb and improve comfort of use.
In total, the Corsair Dark Core RGB SE offers nine programmable buttons using Corsair CUE software. They are all based on the highest quality OMRON switches that are designed to withstand up to 60 million pulses. The quality of this mouse is beyond doubt, it is a product made to last for many years.
We go to the bottom and we find the PWM 3360 sensor first, of this little must be said beyond that it is the best on the market, it offers a sensitivity of 16, 000 DPI, a sampling rate of 450 IPS and an acceleration 50G. Next to the sensor we see the on / off switches and the 2.4 GHz / bluetooth operating mode.
We now turn to see the Corsair MM1000 mat, this is the perfect complement to the Corsair Dark Core RGB SE. Both devices include Qi technology, thanks to which the mouse will be loaded just by leaving it in the area of the mat that includes this wireless technology.
This mat is 260mm x 350mm x 5mm in size and weighs 850 grams. The base is rubber so that it is very stable on our table and does not move at all.
The surface of the Corsair MM1000 is made of microfibers to offer an excellent base on which to slide the mouse, thanks to which the movement will be very smooth. This surface allows the use of both optical and laser sensors. In the upper right part, the area with Qi technology has been included, therefore it is there where we will have to leave the mouse to recharge its internal battery.
Qi charging a smartphone
The Corsair MM1000 connects directly to the PC to take the power it needs to function, the connection cable is 1.8 meters long. Corsair has thought of everything and has included adapters for MicroUSB, USB Type-C and Lightning ports, thanks to which we can use it on all types of devices and not only on our PC.
In the area where the cable goes, a small LED has been included that will give us information about the charging process, when it is fixed it will mean that the mouse is fully charged, when it flashes it will mean that it is charging.
And so the mouse is next to the mat:
And when it is located in the cargo area:
Corsair Utility Engine Software
All management via software must be done with the Corsair Utility Engine application. This time, we only have support for the Corsair Dark Core RGB SE mouse that allows us to customize the following sections:
- Actions: It allows us to create or modify macros for the nine programmable buttons. Lighting Effects: We can modify the four RGB LED zones with 16.8 million colors. Pretty useful to know what profile we have activated in our mouse. DPI: It allows us to predefine a total of 3 profiles, highly recommended for our most used game genres and the daily use of the mouse. As a novelty it incorporates a "sniper" button that lowers the mouse speed to 400 DPI while pressing it. We found it very useful to camp with the sniper in "PUGB" style games. Performance: It gives us a report on the performance of our binge.
As always, it keeps our mouse updated in firmware and detects if there is any incompatibility or anomaly with it. Great Corsair job!
Final words and conclusion about Corsair Dark Core RGB SE and MM1000
We loved the performance of the Corsair Dark Core RGB SE Wireless Mouse. Its 16000 DPI, its magnificent PixArt PWM 3360 optical sensor, its 9 programmable buttons, its ergonomics and its wireless charging are its main values.
If we combine the Corsair Dark Core RGB SE mouse and the Corsair MM1000 mat we have two great allies. The mat is comfortable, this allows us to charge the smartphone and includes accessories to charge our smartphone without having to have Qi charge (makes it compatible). An important fact is that it incorporates a USB connection to connect external storage units.
The “sniper” button allows us to lower the mouse's DPI to 400 while holding it down. We have been able to “roam” in PUBG quite well, since it allows us to aim more accurately and we see it as a magnificent plus for our needs. In the event that 400 DPI is too little for you, the CUE application allows us to customize it to our liking.
We recommend reading the best mice on the market
How long has the battery lasted? Working a full day and playing between two and three hours we have come to offer a day and a half of autonomy. Although the following days, we have left it charging at the base at night without any problem. Although we would like to indicate that the scroll is somewhat noisy when we use it and it does not have infinite scroll.
The price of the mouse ranges from 100 ~ 105 euros while the mat is positioned on the market at 95 euros. High price? Yes, but it is one of the few quality wireless solutions on the market. It seems to us a good step to incorporate quality peripherals wirelessly. Well done Corsair!
