We continue to analyze pre-assembled liquid cooling solutions, in this case, we are dealing with the Corsair H60, a model that stands out for being very compact, but offering great performance with all the most popular processors on the market. Will it be enough for an i7 processor or an AMD Ryzen?

If you want to discover the answer to this last question and know all its details… Don't miss our complete analysis in Spanish! Let's start!

As always, we thank Corsair for the trust placed in ceding the product to us for analysis.

Corsair H60 (2018) technical characteristics

Unboxing and design

The Corsair H60 heatsink is perfectly accommodated and protected inside a cardboard box, to avoid damage during transport. The box is based on the brand's corporate colors and a very good quality print. On the front it shows us a great image of the product, and on the rest of the faces it details its specifications.

Once we open the box we find the Corsair H60 along with all the accessories necessary for its assembly. Everything comes very well arranged and covered in plastic bags to avoid any type of damage before reaching the hands of the end user.

Corsair H60 is a heatsink highly compatible with almost all the platforms on the market, both Intel and AMD, this will make all users enjoy its benefits. The compatibility list includes the following sockets:

  • Intel LGA 115xIntel LGA 1366Intel LGA 2011Intel LGA 2011-3Intel LGA 2066AMD AM2AMD AM3AMD AM4AMD FM1AMD FM2

First we look at the radiator, it has very discrete dimensions of only 157 mm x 120 mm x 27 mm, which makes it compatible with almost all the chassis on the market.

It is a radiator formed by a multitude of aluminum fins, its design has been optimized to offer a large heat exchange surface in a very small space, this has allowed the brand to offer a very compact and powerful cooling solution.

The perfect companion of this radiator will be the Corsair 120mm SP fan, which is included in the bundle, it is a top quality fan, with PWM technology that allows it to regulate its speed of rotation depending on the temperature of the processor. This will make the balance between silence and cooling the best possible, because when we are doing very basic tasks the processor will not heat up, and the fan will rotate at a very low speed.

This fan can rotate at a speed between 600 RPM and 1, 700 RPM, generating a noise of 28.3 dB (A) and an air flow of 57.2 CFM. Corsair 120mm SP is manufactured with high quality, low friction bearings, which will make it last for many years.

We now turn to see the CPU block, this includes the pump and is based on a microchannel design optimized for maximum contact with the cooling fluid, thus transferring a large amount of heat and improving its cooling capacity. The base of the block is made of high quality copper, one of the best conductors of heat. This base is highly polished to ensure perfect contact with the IHS of the processor, so the heat transfer will be maximum.

The base of the block comes with pre-applied thermal paste, Corsair has thought of everything to make the heatsink as easy to install as possible.

The pump is also of the best quality to ensure great durability, it is responsible for moving the coolant throughout the sink with a very quiet operation. Above the block, the white LED lighting system has been placed, it is configurable using Corsair iCUE software and offers a spectacular aesthetic.

Finally, we see the tubes that are responsible for connecting the radiator with the CPU block. These tubes are completely sealed, which prevents evaporation of the refrigerant fluid and will make us have a heatsink for years. They are quite flexible tubes but not in excess, which will make their installation easy and will prevent them from bending excessively, which could block the circulation of the liquid.

Installation and assembly

In our case we are going to use a LGA 2066 platform that is quite simple to install and start up. In about 10 minutes we can have our operating system.

The first step is to install the four set screws in the socket in this way. We don't need any rear bracket, so everything will be simple simple?

The result will be similar to this.

Remember that it is not necessary to apply thermal paste, the same copper base already incorporates one of the best thermal paste that we can acquire. Now we only have to put the block and screw the screws into the socket. Remember to use a screwdriver and do not overdo it, otherwise the screw will “run”.

This is the end result. It remains only to connect the SATA power, the 3-pin connector for the motherboard to monitor the power and connect the fan.

To test the actual performance of the heatsink we are going to stress with the powerful Intel Core i9-7900X at stock speed. As usual, our tests consist of 72 uninterrupted hours of work in stock values, since being a ten-core processor and with high frequencies, temperatures can be high.

In this way, we can observe the highest temperature peaks and the average that the heatsink reaches. We must bear in mind that when playing or using other types of software, the temperature will drop dramatically between 7 to 12ºC.

How are we going to measure the processor temperature? For this test we will use the internal sensors of the processor under the supervision of the HWiNFO64 application in its latest version. We believe it is one of the best monitoring software that exists today. Without further delay, we leave you the results obtained:

Final words and conclusion about Corsair H60

Corsair renews its Corsair H60 liquid cooling kit with a better pump, higher quality pipes, a renewed design and greater compatibility with the main socket of Intel and AMD.

In our performance tests we have been able to verify that it measures up to the Intel Core i9-7900X processor, 32 GB of RAM and an Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti. Although it is more focused on the LGA 1151 socket, we have decided to opt for this platform to have more reliable temperatures than the "thermal paste" and the bad bonding that the 8700K uses.

We recommend reading our guide on the best liquid refrigerations

The installation is quite simple and with the incorporation of a second fan the temperatures improve considerably between 4 to 6 ºC. We believe that it is one of the liquid refrigerations to take into account when building a mid / high range PC.

Its price in online stores is 79.90 euros. We consider it a 100% recommended purchase. What do you think of this new version? We are waiting your comments!
