With its motto of “designed by gamers, for gamers” Vodafone Giant has released its own Giants Gear H60 headphones. In this new family of gaming peripherals, you could not miss the presence of stereo headphones with 53mm drivers that provide surprisingly good, clear and highly detailed sound. Its light weight and the circumaural design with double bridge headband, make them suitable for practically any user, and we already anticipate that they are really comfortable.

Taking the leap from gaming to peripheral design, we thank Vodafone Giants for their trust in us and the loan of their H60 headphones for our in-depth review.

Giants Gear H60 technical characteristics

Unboxing

The new brand founded by the Vodafone Giants team, has invested heavily in its new range of peripherals with which it is launched on the market. Today we will dedicate ourselves to analyze their Giants Gear H60 headphones.

The brand has used a rigid cardboard box with a practically just width of the headphones and a color scheme in white for the background, and its logo in a soft gray as a watermark. No low cost presentations, betting on quality from the beginning gentlemen.

The main face also includes, as it could not be otherwise, a photograph of the headset along with the compatibility platforms. Right at the back, we also find another photograph of the equipment and the list of the most important specifications.

Now we are going to proceed to open this bundle to see what it brings us inside. A cardboard mold in the shape of a central column has been chosen to support the headphones and several plastic bags that store the different accessories. So as a summary we have:

  • Giants Gear H60 Headset with Cable Jack included 3.5mm Splitter Jack for Audio and Microphone Removable Microphone Rod User Manual

It is very interesting that, to increase the compatibility of connections, we have included the splitter to separate the 4-pole combo jack into two. But it is true that we miss the adapter to connect the headset to the Xbox, the brand ensures its compatibility, but we will have to buy a separate adapter.

Exterior design

Let's see what these Giants Gear H60 offer us in terms of design and aesthetics. The design team has decided to bet on a configuration with circumaural pavilions closed on the outside and a fairly pronounced oval. But surely what stands out the most is that large headband with a very large main bridge and a secondary one with good padding.

It is the way to ensure wide compatibility with all head sizes, or at least almost all. And we already anticipate that the fit on the head is very good, mainly because the entire chassis that holds the canopies is built in steel, as well as part of the interior. Giants gives us the general measurements of the headset to get an idea of the volume they occupy. Being 190 mm wide, 230 mm high and 100 mm deep, weighing just 370 grams.

Focusing more on the headband of the Giants Gear H60, and its double bridge configuration, we can increase the circumference of them by quite a few centimeters. All adjustment will be automatic when we put on the helmets, since the secondary bridge has two flexible plastic plates inside it , fastened with an elastic. And the truth is that the width that we can reach is impressive.

I have never been a big fan of double bridges, but I must admit that in these headphones the grip is magnificent, well tightened so that they do not fall, but without putting too much pressure. The idea of placing two such separate bridges has been the winning card here. Of course, the aesthetic result is not too refined to be so voluminous.

And we also don't forget the synthetic leather padding we have on the secondary bridge, which will always be in contact with our head. And in this case I think it is too soft, at first glance it seems quite thick, but when it is touched it sinks in quite easily, and over time, it may soften a little more. And also through this bridge the cables with the sound signal to the pavilions will pass, some meshed and quite long cables we must say.

If we turn it around, we will see a fairly large “giants” in the upper area that is also padded. The main bridge we have already commented that it is steel, to gain rigidity compared to normal iron, very wide, and painted in matt black. For this and other reasons, it may surprise the one that only weighs 370 grams, because it is a fairly large team.

Now we are going to go a little further down to the holding area of the large ears. Specifically, we are going to look at how they are attached, because a double clamp type arm has been used that reaches both sides of each pavilion. Its ends have been fixed by two plastic claws with screws that allow us to rotate these pavilions inwards at an angle of approximately 30 degrees. Thanks to this twist, we can adapt them even better to our head.

It is the only element in terms of ergonomics of the Giants Gear H60, since we will not be able to rotate them on the Z axis or towards the outside. However, with this simple twist and the adaptability of the headband, we will already have great comfort.

And speaking of comfort, we have gone to the extremes, that is, to the ears that store these 53 mm drivers of the Giants Gear H60. At first glance they appear large and heavy, although they are built on a mono-hull plastic chassis on the sides and metal on the inside. Here we see a Giants logo in relief, which obviously has no lighting (no Jack 3.5 headset does).

This pavilion is completely closed in this external area, thus preventing the sound from dispersing and being heard by others from outside. The insulation section is completed with two inner pads of a good thickness and height. They are covered in synthetic leather, so in summer we will suffer a bit from the heat, but the hardness is just right, not too soft and not too hard.

These pads will greatly prevent our ears from hitting the central area. But this one has a surprise, and it is that it has a soft padding of a few millimeters so as not to feel the hard plastic. This is a great detail that we liked a lot and that few headphones have it. We can only see that in the left pavilion we have the 3.5 mm mini jack port to connect the microphone.

We are going to review the measures, these pavilions in their longest part measure approximately 110 mm, while in the narrowest part we have 90 mm. For their part, the pads are 25 mm thick and 20 mm high. And we finish with the space available for our ears, which will be 60 mm high by 40 mm wide.

The truth is that they are not badly designed, because the result is a very good comfort of the complete set, without pressing anywhere, but at the same time well subject to sudden movements. We do not avoid thinking that it is also due to low weight.

At this point, we would have liked an extra pair of fabric pads. It is something that many manufacturers incorporate into their gaming equipment, to be able to use our favorites at all times.

Volume and mic control

You may have also noticed that these Giants Gear H60 do not have the volume control on the headphones themselves. To find them, we will have to continue down the cable until we find a square button where they are located.

The system is very simple, a button to mute the microphone (up on, down down). And a wheel on the side to adjust the volume. The good news is that this wheel works perfectly, we do not have sudden volume jumps nor does it cut when it reaches almost the minimum. We say this because it usually occurs in equipment that incorporates this same type of potentiometer control.

Internal features

We leave the design behind to take a look at the characteristics of the hardware that is installed inside. Also counting our listening experience of the Giants Gear H60.

And always starting with the speaker section, in this case the brand has opted for membranes with a diameter of 53 mm. The material of its magnets is not detailed, but by discard they must be neodymium, because the benefits are very good. They have a response frequency of between 20 and 20, 000 Hz, just the range audible to humans as normal. Data are provided about its impedance, being 32 Ω ± 20% reaching a sensitivity of about 95 dB ± 4 dB, which in truth, is not too much gross power.

From the microphone, it is available independently from the headset with a 3.5 mm mini Jack connection installed on a metal adjustable rod, totaling 150 mm in length. This microphone features a foam filter protection to isolate it from ambient noise and an omnidirectional capture pattern, that is, it is capable of capturing sound around you. It has a frequency response capacity between 100 Hz and 10 KHz, under a sensitivity of -56 ± 4 dB. This means that it will not be able to capture neither the lowest sounds nor the highest ones, being intended for use for spoken voice and nothing else.

In this case we do not have any internal DAC or anything like that, since the way to connect it to the devices will be through a 3.5 mm jack. It can be done with the 4-pole connector that includes audio and micro, or by coupling the splitter that divides the signal into microphone and sound. In this way we have wide compatibility with almost any type of console and device, as long as it is capable of reproducing audio. Remember that, in this case, the quality of our sound card will take center stage.

User experience

Reaching the final stretch of the review, this Giants Gear H60 has left us surprised at least for its excellent sound quality, more than doing justice to its sale value and even exceeding expectations in certain aspects. For example, its comfort, I have already repeated it before, are very comfortable, both in its canopies and in its excellent fit of the double bridge. More than many with this same design, they fall off or feel too tight.

On the sound side, these 53mm speakers have a great bass level in them, but without making the mistake of overlapping in front of the mids and highs. Presenting a good balance in frequencies aided by a Realtek ALC1220 sound card. In fact, we have been able to hear the sounds in a very detailed way, something typical of high-end equipment. Those little details that others escape, these Giants Gear H60 do not.

We have tried it for a few days listening to music, watching movies and of course playing some games, and it is really useful to be able to hear all the details of what we are doing. The pavilions isolate very well from external sounds, if they end up producing any type of reverberation or bottleneck sensation.

The volume control is very good despite being an ordinary wheel, although I personally like the control directly on the helmets rather than on an intermediate button, thus avoiding knocks and entanglements. Yes, its sensitivity is a bit better, since when we set the sound to maximum, we notice a slight distortion especially in bass, not hearing as clearly as it should.

Regarding the microphone, here we will leave you a small audio test so that you can see more or less how it is heard. In this case there are not too many surprises, except for users attentive to each of the nuances, we hear a sufficiently clear voice with the microphone close to the mouth and a slight background noise (I have the tower about 70 cm from where I was recording). Obviously it is a micro oriented to be used in competitive games and chats, not to record videos, so its quality can be considered standard.

Final words and conclusion about Giants Gear H60

After providing my feelings in detail after several days of using these Giants Gear H60, it's time to make a short summary of what they can give us, and the details to improve.

And as usual, let's start with the design. It is a circumaural configuration and entirely painted in black. On the one hand, we observe a professional cut design, serious and without strident elements. The double bridge of the diadem perhaps looks excessively voluminous and does not provide that finesse that, for example, the pavilions do manage to convey.

In his favor, we must say that this double bridge design is one of the best adjusted to stay in my head, the fact of having a very large steel bridge and a very flat one, give great support to the set, clearly improving due to its Light weight of 370 grams. The pads are very comfortable, thick and also padded inside the canopy, a second pack of fabric would have been nice.

We recommend the best gaming headphones on the market

And is that the insulation is really good, providing these drivers of 53 mm a clear and detailed sound at low, medium and also high volumes, although at the most it does distort slightly in the bass. It offers quite strong bass already standard, and a perfect balance of frequencies that, for this price range, it is difficult to see anything like it. The connectivity is also purist, 3.5mm jack direct to the sound card, without intermediate DACs that in a mid-range are usually not of too high quality.

The microphone has also behaved quite well, although its omnidirectional pattern makes it capture a little noise if we have devices nearby such as towers, fans or the like. It offers enough features to capture a clear voice and use it in competitive games and chats. The detail of being able to remove and put the micro is also very useful, since many users practically have it there as decoration.

We finish by informing that Giants Gear H60 is already available for purchase on the official website of Giants Gear for a price of 74.90 euros. It really is a headset that has offered us a better experience than expected, especially in its good audio level. The brand started off on the right foot in this series of peripherals consisting of mouse, keyboard and mouse pad, in addition to this magnificent headset. Very good work.
