We know Corsair and we know that it is one of the most important in the Gaming peripherals segment. Today we present the Corsair HS35 Stereo headset, which stands out for its good sound quality and affordable price. The circumaural design headset is compatible with all types of devices thanks to its analog connection, and its 50mm drivers give us a sound in great detail and quite high. It features a simple, comfortable design with a removable microphone. In addition, it is available in 4 colors, Carbon, Red, Green and Blue.

We are going to analyze in depth these headphones that are so attractive from a gaming point of view, but not before thanking Corsair for their trust and fidelity in us by giving us their product for this analysis.

Corsair HS35 Stereo technical characteristics

Unboxing

We start with the Unboxing of the Corsair HS35 Stereo, headphones that are presented in a thin flexible cardboard box, which in our case is completely green, just like the color of the model we are analyzing. We imagine that the color of this box will vary depending on the chosen model, being, for example, blue, and we choose the blue model.

The fact is that in the outside area we have a huge photo of all the equipment practically in real size that shows us exactly what we have inside. Similarly, in the back we are provided with all the most important technical characteristics, although this is where you will find our sensations and experience of use.

Inside, we have the equipment accommodated in a black plastic mold next to the microphone placed in a plastic bag. In addition to these elements we only have the user guide and the guarantee. It would have been quite an important detail to include a Y-splitter to separate audio and microphone, we will point it out for the conclusions.

Design

Without further ado, let's get into its external design features. And the first thing we get out of this Corsair HS35 Stereo is its simplicity or sobriety if possible, since we do not have finishes with strange lines, or gaming details just to the effect that its secondary color. As we have already said it is available in gray, green (our model ), blue and red. Four basic colors that make a great contrast to the matte black color of the headband and ear pads.

As far as construction is concerned, we do not have much technology either, since both headband and pavilions are made of rigid plastic and with good finishes in general in all joints and parts. This makes it a really lightweight headset, although its weight is not specified, it should be around 330 to 350 grams.

Its headband configuration is a single bridge, a design that provides compactness, less weight and a fit almost always better than the double bridge in my point of view. This headband we recommend not to force it too much in its opening, since the casing is made of quite rigid plastic and could break. However, the interior chassis is made up of a fairly rigid metal plate that provides security for the whole.

In the Corsair HS35 Stereo core area, we have the typical secondary color pad. In this case it has been protected with a breathable fabric mesh and a rather soft sponge inside. Due to its good thickness, our head will not touch the hard edges, so it is very comfortable and I really liked it. The screen printing on the outer shell also fits very well with large "Corsair" and shiny plastic.

On each of the sides we have a mechanism to extend the length of the circumference of the headphones and thus adapt to any size of head. We must say that, from the start, it is quite small and ideal for the little ones, but it admits up to 30 mm of extension on each side, more than enough for bulky heads.

The fastening system of the canopies in the first instance, is rigid, and the rotation in the Z axis of the helmets is not allowed. But it has a clamp configuration to catch the pavilions to the headband at both ends, allowing a small twist to better fit the head. We already say that it is very little, but it helps.

Now we will take a closer look at the ear pavilions, which have a good size, oval circumaural design. Exterior dimensions are fairly standard, 95mm in diameter wide and 110mm high. The entire exterior area is closed to the speakers and in the central area we see the brand's logo, which obviously has no lighting, since it is an analog connection.

As for the pads, they give us as good a feeling as the headband. The same type of memory foam and a breathable fabric have been used in the secondary color. They have a rounded shape and measures 20 mm thick and 18 mm high compared to the drivers. It is not too much, but in my case they do not touch my ears with the hard inner zone. In fact, this area has been protected with another black fabric, although it does not have padding.

Volume and microphone control

We have already discussed the Corsair HS35 Stereo exterior design, but we still have to see where the equipment controls are located.

Luckily, Corsair has chosen to locate everything in the pavilions, specifically on the left as in 100% of the helmets. For volume control we have a relatively large and very accessible potentiometer type wheel. This works quite well, with a good logarithmic setting that smoothly raises and lowers volume. Although it is true that they reach low volumes, there are ranges in which the rotation does not cause changes in the volume.

For microphone management, we find a button that allows you to turn it on or off very comfortably. In the front area is where the hole is located that hides the 3.5 mm Jack connector for it, previously protected with a small rubber cap that is not attached to the headset, so be careful where we put it, because we you will lose easily.

Internal features

Now let's take a closer look at the hardware we have inside, although not too many details about it are known either.

Starting as always with its speakers, Corsair has opted for a configuration with 50mm diameter and neodymium magnets. These speakers have been customized and improved by the brand in this model to increase performance without compromising cost. They offer a response frequency of 20 Hz to 20, 000 Hz, just our audible spectrum and with a low impedance of 32 Ω measured at frequencies of 1 KHz. The sensitivity is quite high considering the cost, no less than 113 dB ± 3 dB, so be careful with the eardrums at high volumes, because it reaches them without problems.

Having a 3.5mm Jack connection, the natural and recommended sound configuration is stereo. This does not prevent the 7.1 surround sound that so many headphones boast can be simulated by software on high-fidelity sound cards, something that for a gamer is completely meaningless. Incidentally, the cable is fixed and measures about 130 cm long, being painted in a secondary color and without any external mesh. The connection is 3.5mm 4-pole jack, since it includes micro and audio.

Now let's talk a little more about the Corsair HS35 Stereo microphone, which is presented in a removable configuration also by means of a 3.5 mm jack. The total effective length is 150 mm a flexible rod of 95 mm that will remain fixed in the position that we give it. The benefits it offers are a frequency response of between 100 Hz and 10 kHz, which is quite normal, and a sensitivity of -40 ± 3 dB, so it is possible that some noise will leak into the recordings. Its impedance is medium, 2.2 KΩ with a unidirectional pickup pattern, which in any case will improve noise suppression in opposite directions to the mic.

User experience

Now it's time to tell a little about our experience of use during the days that we have been with the Corsair HS35 Stereo. Something of interest to many users will be that these headphones are Discord certified.

That said, we take the opportunity to speak first of the microphone, and here we have mixed feelings. On the one hand, the ease of use allowing us to mount and dismantle it easily, gives us a very good use of the headset. But on the other hand, the quality of your recording is not as good as you might expect. I have made several sound recordings at different volumes, but in all of them a small background noise is irretrievably filtered if we want an acceptable volume.

Here I leave you a small recording that shows what I say, the volume is good and the voice is heard clearly, but the background noise is always present. The response frequency makes it valid for voice chats and chats, but not for much more as we must understand, since the lowest frequencies below and the highest frequencies above will escape. I must also say that I needed a “Y” splitter to separate audio and micro, since with the 4-pole connector it was not possible for me to record audio on the motherboard correctly.

As for the speakers, here I do take my hat off Corsair, because few headphones offer sound quality as good for 45 euros as these Corsair HS35 Stereo. Thanks to the sensitivity they offer, we will be able to give a lot of voice to your speakers, more than our ears can comfortably support, and also with hardly any distortion in the output.

The headphones show what we hear in great frequency detail, even at very low volumes. And when it comes to the balance between bass, mid and treble we have a very good one, although it is true that the bass stands out a bit, as they are extremely powerful and deep. It is also because the insulation of the canopies is surprisingly good, despite having fabric pads.

Final words and conclusion about Corsair HS35 Stereo

And so we come to the end of this in-depth review of the Corsair HS35 Stereo headphones, which, overall, have left us with a very good sound experience. And we can assure you that, in this section, they are extremely good despite how economical they are.

A high volume without distortion, a good balance between tones, and above all a powerful and deeper bass than you would expect to be plastic domes. We hear clear, detailed sound with these upgraded 50mm drivers. The analog connection helps us get the quality out of the sound cards and DACs built into the high-end boards.

Comfort and weight are also one of its advantages, very light helmets with large pads, especially the one located on the headband, which gives us a good fit and head support. Personally, I see these fabric pads right, since they give less heat than the synthetic leather ones.

We recommend our guide to the best gaming headphones on the market

As far as design is concerned, we don't have a marvel of engineering, but its lines are sober and elegant, with several colors available that make it striking, but without reaching tacky levels. I think the simple bridge headband design is right.

A subject to improve may be the microphone, since we have always had a small background noise in the recordings that becomes noticeable when we increase the volume. It is not anything serious, and that it worsens the experience in chats or competitive games, but for content creators it is insufficient of course.

We finish with the availability and price section. We have four models in different colors and a price in all of them of 45 euros. So they enter the mid-range of headphones for gamers looking for simplicity and good sound performance with a highly compatible wired analog connection.
