Announced weeks ago, we finally have the first Corsair pre-assembled PC in our test bench, the result of the manufacturer's hard work to bring all the most demanding users a ready-to-use equipment that meets all their needs. The new Corsair One combines all the power of GeForce GTX 1080 graphics with an advanced Intel Core i7-7700K processor so that no game is resisted no matter how demanding it is.
We thank Corsair Spain for trusting us with the product for analysis.
Corsair One technical characteristics
Unboxing and design
Corsair has put a lot of care in the presentation of its first complete team, you could not expect less from one of the most prestigious brands in this world. The Corsair One comes in a cardboard box very well protected by several pieces of high quality cork, the manufacturer has ensured that nothing moves until it reaches the hands of the end user.
The Corsair One bets on a fairly minimalist design, the team is built on a high quality aluminum chassis and black color that gives it an attractive appearance and makes it look good wherever we place it.
The chassis is made of extremely tough aerospace grade aluminum to keep it looking new for a long time. It is a very compact system with dimensions of only 380 x 200 x 176mm and a weight of 3.6 kg.
On the front of the chassis we see the logo next to the panel with the buttons and the input and output ports . We also have a power button next to a USB 3.0 port and an HDMI port that make using virtual reality systems such as HTC Vive very easy.
At the top we see fins to improve the cooling of the equipment by allowing more fresh air to enter the system. The side panels meanwhile show a very clean design in which only the abundant perforations stand out to once again improve the air flow.
On the back we see a fairly complete panel with a USB 3.1 Type-C port, three USB 3.1 Type A ports, two USB 2.0 Type A ports, a Gigabit Ethernet port and connectors for audio.
Rear view. A rubber that avoids vibrations and some grids so that fresh air can enter from the lower area of the tower. Will it be enough for your refrigeration? Wait! In the next sections we will tell you more.
Components and interior
To access the interior of the Corsair One we only have to press a button located on the back and it will allow us to remove the cover from the upper part of the equipment next to the 140mm fan located in this area.
Once we start to see the interior we realize the incredible work that has been done in this system, the Corsair One is one of the teams that has taken advantage of all the internal space, if not the most. What's more, we believe that if they sold the box separately many of us would buy it.
The Corsair One uses an MSI Z270I Growler mini-ITX motherboard that manages to provide all the benefits of the Intel Z270 platform in a very small space.
We also see the GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card that is responsible for providing tremendous performance in the most demanding video games and two Corsair Vengeance 2400MHz DDR4 memory modules of 8 GB each.
In terms of power, we see a modular 80 Plus Gold source with an SFX form factor to make the most of all the available space.
Both the CPU and the GPU are accompanied by a liquid cooling system consisting of two separate AIO systems with 240mm radiators, the use of this type of cooling has been essential in order to offer a very compact system that is capable of working at ideal temperatures. In order to get the most out of all its powerful and expensive components.
Updating the processor is a very simple process, we cannot say the same for the graphics card since we should find one in which the cooling system of this equipment fits perfectly, which should not be easy. An option to upgrade to a more powerful graphics card in the future could be to remove the AIO kit for cooling and put in a card with a turbine sink, something necessary to prevent a lot of hot air from accumulating in a very small space, Turbines are much more efficient at getting hot air out of the equipment.
To finish with its specifications we highlight the use of a Corsair 960 GB SSD together with a 2 TB HDD, the Corsair One allows us to combine all the advantages of SSDs and mechanical disks in the same equipment.
Pre-installed software
The Corsair One is accompanied by Corsair Link diagnostic software that helps us have precise control over all the components of the system. This application monitors in real time all the most important parameters of the key components such as the GPU, the CPU and the power supply.
We are surprised that it incorporates the PC-Doctor software but with slight modifications to keep the new Corsair One completely up to date. Although we do not like this type of software, it can always be uninstalled quickly.
It also incorporates the management, cloning, secure erase and optimization tools for SSDs. Although we are not in the high-end Corsair Neutron XTi, the 960GB Corsair LE gives exceptional performance.
Benchmark and in-game testing
The equipment to an 8GB GTX 1080 along with an Intel Core i7-7700k processor is a success for a gaming team such as the Corsair One.
Before starting all the performance tests in games, we leave you a performance test with the new Unigine that has been launched. Yes now! Let the march begin!
Temperatures and consumption
The temperatures of the equipment are totally the expected ones with a temperatures of 34 ºC at rest and 72 ºC at maximum power with respect to the processor. The graphics card, being a reference model but with improved dissipation, is found at 30ºC and a maximum temperature of 66ºC.
The consumption lives up to the expectations set with 59 W at rest and 271 W at full capacity throughout the team.
Final words and conclusion about Corsair One
The Corsair One falls in love off and on. Small footprint, incredibly rugged aerospace grade aluminum design, incorporating excellent internal cooling. Furthermore, we believe that if Corsair sold only the chassis with the cooling system at an attractive price, many of us would go for it.
Regarding its internal components, we can get few problems. It incorporates an Intel Kaby Lake i7-7700K processor (when one with AMD Ryzen 1600X?), 16 GB of low-profile RAM, a high-end MSI Z270 motherboard that allows overclocking, 96 0 GB of SSD, a card GTX 1080 graphics and a 2TB hard drive to store important applications and data. Can we have it more balanced? We can really take few hits.
We also really liked that on its front it incorporates an HDMI connection to connect our virtual glasses, regardless of whether they are HTC Vive, Oculus Rift or any Chinese. A great detail, especially those who will allocate this PC in their living room or game room.
Temperatures could be better, but taking into account the space, everything inside and above all the potential of the team… we understand. Consumption is just great.
We recommend reading our PC Gaming configuration
Another positive thing is that it incorporates an operating system and does not carry any bloatware . What is appreciated, we can monitor various aspects of the operating system and always be up to date, thanks to Corsair Link. Everything very clean and simple. Corsair of 10!
Already available in Spain and its price depends on the version you want, since it ranges from 2000 to 2500 euros. This version is worth 2500 euros. Is it worth it? That you have to answer for yourself. You can build a similar team for less money, but the good design, exclusivity and good work that Corsair does must be paid for. The big downside is its price, otherwise it would be a TOP assured sales.
