Finding the best mouse on the market is not an easy task. Although we are still looking for the perfect mouse, Corsair wants to challenge us to achieve it with its new Corsair Scimitar PRO RGB with 16, 000 DPI sensor, 17 programmable buttons and RGB lighting. Will it be the perfect mouse? Here we go!

We thank Corsair Spain for trusting the product for its analysis.

Corsair Scimitar PRO RGB: technical characteristics

Unboxing and design

The Corsair Scimitar PRO RGB comes to us with a cardboard box that presents a very common design in all the products of this manufacturer. We have a clear predominance of the brand's corporate colors, black and yellow. On the front we find a great image of the mouse along with some of its most notable features such as the four-zone RGB LED lighting system, its 17 programmable buttons and the advanced 16, 000 DPI optical sensor.

On the sides and the back, the rest of its characteristics stand out.

Inside we find the following bundle:

  • Corsair Scimitar PRO RGB Mouse. Instruction Manual. Warranty Book.

The Corsair Scimitar PRO RGB is a very high-end mouse made with an aluminum body and an excellent choice for MOBA / MMO players thanks to a total of 17 programmable buttons, 12 of which are located on the left side. The mouse has dimensions of 119.4mm x 77mm x 42.4mm and a weight of 147 grams, so it will offer a very good compromise between agility and movement precision.

We have a product that has taken great care in all its details, not for nothing it is the top of the range Corsair mouse and one of the most promising of all we have tried.

At the top we find the two main buttons that have Japanese OMRON mechanisms, the best that can be placed on a mouse and that ensure at least 20 million keystrokes, there is no doubt that it is a mouse that has been thought to offer great durability for the user. Accompanying the main buttons we have the wheel that has a rubber finish to improve adherence to the finger and offers excellent operation with very precise movements both on short trips and on longer trips.

Accompanying the wheel is a small button that will allow us to adjust the DPI level of the sensor on the fly and at preset values of 1000/3000/5000/16000 DPI to adapt to the preferences of a large number of users. A high DPI value allows us to make a great tour with a very small movement of the mouse so it will be especially suitable for multi-monitor configurations. In contrast, low DPI values will be ideal in games where high precision of movement is required. Next to the button we find three small light indicators that inform us of the DPI mode that we have activated, there are a total of four DPI modes since three of them correspond to each of the indicators and the fourth corresponds to all the indicators turned off

The heart of this Corsair Scimitar PRO RGB is a Pixart PMW3367 optical sensor with a whopping 16400 DPI. While the majority of users will use at most 3000-4000DPI, it is appreciated to see that they have opted for a quality sensor. It is a sensor developed by Pixart in collaboration with Logitech and is one of the best that can be found. It also incorporates internal memory for different profiles and macro buttons to avoid having to worry about reconfiguring the mouse if we are going on a trip or to a lan party. This solution is much appreciated and other approaches to storing profiles in the cloud are more cumbersome for the user, since you have to install the software on any computer you want to use and depend on the Internet.

Of course the mouse has a polling rate of 1000hz, the usual in gaming peripherals, the maximum that the USB interface allows. We find an advanced four-part lighting system that is fully customizable with multiple light effects and a total of 16.8 million colors like any self-respecting RGB system.

The 1.8 meter cable is covered in mesh fabric, ideal to minimize friction and face aesthetics and durability. The connector is not far behind, it is gold-plated USB 2.0 for better contact and prevent corrosion.

RGB lighting

Lighting plays a very important role in peripherals today. Specifically, we have the possibility of establishing 16.8 million colors with four customizable zones: front, scroll wheel, lateral area and logo area . In addition to leaving the color fixed, it allows us to activate the Rainbow shape , color impulse and lighting link.

Corsair CUE software

The renewal of the software is really good (we have already mentioned it in a few previous reviews) and the possibilities of customization are very high. For example, it allows us to create macros, very specific actions, customize the 16 side buttons, adjust the frequency of the DPI, check the performance of the mouse and calibrate the surface. Every time we test a high-end mouse, we see a palpable improvement.

Final words and conclusion about Corsair Scimitar PRO RGB

We come to the end of the article and we can assure you that the new Corsair Scimitar PRO RGB is a top- notch gaming mouse. And it has all the features that can be required: build quality, premium components, 16 buttons to get the most out of MOBA and MMO games and a Pixart sensor of 16, 000 DPI.

Although its ergonomics are very good, it must be said that it is a mouse designed almost for right-handed players and is very comfortable for large hands. Another fact to keep in mind is that the scroll wheel sounds a bit , because we know that many of our readers ask us for these data privately.

Regarding the software, it is outstanding. It allows us to adjust any action, lighting effect and customize the Corsair Scimitar PRO RGB to the maximum. We have seen a great improvement over the previous version.

Its price is the big downside of this mouse, it is currently found in online stores for a price of 115 euros. It is a great mouse and is worth every penny, but it is not within the reach of most consumers. If you are looking for something professional, it is your mouse.
