▷ Cpuid hwmonitor: what is it and what can it do for us? ?
Table of contents:
Lately we are covering different very useful applications for benchmarking and parameter monitoring. Today we are going to tell you about one of the best known for its long history and, among other things, the fame of its creators. We are talking, of course, about CPUID HWMonitor.

What is CPUID HWMonitor?
CPUID HWMonitor is software capable of monitoring different parameters of our equipment. It was created by the same team after CPU-Z , that is, CPUID , so you can already get an idea of what the program can be like.
Although it is not the most complete program that we can acquire, we do have to give it the credit for being the first program that simplified the standard. The presentation of the data and the analysis of the team is very focused on making it easy for the user to read and is appreciated.
Among the most relevant things that we can read are:
- Voltages (in V) Temperatures (in ºC) Fan speed (in RPM) Use of the fans (in%) Utilization (in%) Power consumption (in W) Clock frequencies (in GHz) Performance
We will not be able to see all these fields in all the components, but we will be able to see all those that the program can show. In addition, it will also record the minimum and maximum of all these values.
Finally, we also have two more features to highlight:
- The first is to refresh the minimums and maximums in case the program has crashed or we simply want to discover the new minimums and maximums after having done an action. The second is the option of being able to save the data presented on the screen, which will be saved in a separate text file. The information will be very well described and unraveled so that it can serve many other different programs. There is also a CPUID HWMonitor PRO version, but, as you will guess, it is paid.
In this improved version we have the option to change the name of the parameters and reorder them in the grid, as well as create graphics using the same data. If you need to do a study or obtain these data reliably, you may be interested in obtaining the PRO version.
What can the program offer us?
In the good part of the spectrum, it is a very useful program to keep track of the parameters of your computer. We have a lot of data, they are very visual and easy to understand.
On the bad side, seeing the data is the only thing we can do, since extracting that data for study or analysis is quite difficult. We would have to extract the data manually (quite complicated ) or opt for the PRO version , which offers us this standard function.
Although without further delay let's see a bit of the bowels of the program.
As you can see, the first thing we will have on the screen will be the motherboard and here we can see the voltages, temperatures, fan speeds and the use of the system.
The negative point is that we cannot know for sure what voltage or temperature each value is referring to. This has the consequence that we can do a global analysis of how the team is working, but we cannot differentiate the components individually
In the section of the processors something similar happens, but here we can deduce that they are the voltages and temperatures of the four cores.
As we have mentioned, the data is updated in real time.
Finally, here are some examples of the data that we can obtain from two memories (an SSD and an HDD) and a graphics card.
In the memories section there is not much to comment, although in the graphics card yes.
We have more discreet data and the same program is describing its evolution. We can clearly see the revolutions of the fans and their percentage of power in use and other things such as the clock frequencies or the use of the same graph.
Options
If you have looked at the images, you will see that there are four buttons. Its functions are quite simple and there is not much to discover, but we will mention them briefly anyway.
WE RECOMMEND YOU Kernel, what it is and what it is forIn the File tab we have the option that we have mentioned to save the data of a precise moment of the program. It will generate a text file for you in a specific CPUID HWMonitor folder, but it will ask us before saving if we want to change the destination site.
There is also the Exit option, which as you will guess serves to close the program completely.
In the View tab we can refresh the Min / Max values in case they have been blocked or in case we want to find the new limits.
It is possible that at a critical moment of execution the temperatures or frequencies have shot up and you want to know the new Maximum now that the workload is normal, for example.
In the last two buttons we don't have much more to do. The two Tools options are used to check for new CPUW HWMonitor or computer component updates.
Finally, in the Help section we can access a small window that indicates the version of the program, contact information and more.

Final Words on CPUID HWMonitor
Overall, it's a very simple application to install and use, so it can save you from a quick fix. However, for the functionalities that it offers us, we do not believe that it is the best option.
We have recently talked about SpeedFan and, although it has a much rougher interface, it seems to us a more useful program . On the other hand, to get a closer look at more specific parameters such as the CPU or the GPU we have other applications such as CPU-Z (from the same creators) and others.
We hope you have easily understood the explanations in this article and that you found it interesting, which is the most important thing.
And to you, what do you think about the CPUID HWMonitor application? What would you add to it if you could? Share your ideas down here in the comment box. If you have any questions or want to make a contribution to the article, do not hesitate to write it.
