Whether we like it or not, Windows Defender is fully Integrated into Windows 10 as both antivirus and firewall. This is why we will not be able to uninstall it in any way, but we do have the option of permanently deactivating it, and this is what we are going to do here using a group policy found in our system.
How to access Windows 10 Group Policy
Group policies are a set of rules that are implemented in a tool from Windows NT that will allow us to control the work environment for our computer user accounts. This means that, for each user account, there will be a series of rules that we can modify ourselves to allow or not certain elements in our system. An example of this is precisely Windows Defender.
To access these group policies, the easiest way will be using the command:
gpedit.msc
Which we will have to place in the run tool of our system.
Before we get down to work, we must have something very present, since, depending on which version we have of Windows 10, it will have these directives installed or not. These are the versions that have security policies natively implemented.

Therefore, neither do we have a version of Windows 10 Education or Windows 10 Home, in principle, we will not have these policies installed. So, the first thing we are going to do is precisely install them if we have one of these versions.
Install gpedit.msc
This will only have to be done by users who have the Windows 10 Home or Education version of both 32 and 64 bits.
What we will have to do first, will be to download the corresponding file to install the tool. Do not worry if it says that it is for Windows 7, it will also be valid for our Windows 10 or Windows 8 system. We will find the file on the Deviantart page for free.
The next thing we will have to do is unzip the file that we have downloaded, for this we right-click on the file and choose "extract all…".
Next, we right-click on the installation file and choose “ Run as administrator ”
In principle, the tool should have been installed correctly. We will notice it immediately when we proceed to open it.
Access gpedit.msc
Now what we will have to do is access the tool, for this we will press the key combination " Windows + R " to open the Run tool. We will have to write the command that we previously discussed, then pressing Enter.
gpedit.msc
Now, a window will open that will ask us to choose which version of gpedit we want to run. This will be a sign that the application has been installed correctly.
Policy to disable Windows Defender
A window will open in which we will see on the left a directory tree where we will have to go to the following route:
Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / Windows Defender Antivirus
Here we must locate the policy " Disable Windows Defender Antivirus ". We double click on it to open it. In the upper left area, we will have three different options, in the right area we will be explained what will happen when we activate this directive.
We directly activate it, which will mean that the Windows Defender antivirus will disappear from the map. Click on " Apply " for the changes to take effect.
If we now go to the button of our antivirus and go inside, we can see how a message appears telling us that " Your organization is responsible for protection against antivirus and threats."
Well, it would be. This is the group policy to disable Windows Defender, we will prevent it from showing us annoying notifications about its status, and we can install the Antivirus that we want, or none if we prefer.
