Debian 9.0 '' stretch '' will not support 32 processors

Starting with Debian version 9.0, dubbed Stretch, older i586 family processors and i586 / i686 hybrids will no longer be supported.

The processors that belong to the i586 family are the remembered AMD K5 and K6, Intel Pentium, Pentium MMX, VIA C3 Ezra or the nefarious Cyrix III, among others, as well as the i586 / 686 hybrid processors.

Debian manager explains the reason for this decision

As explained by the person in charge Ben Hutchings, it is because both the current versions of GCC and those of Linux (as of version 4.3) are not compatible with these processors and logically it does not work with many of the system instructions due to more patches. or hacks that are implemented. The decision will also allow the developers of the distro to focus on more current equipment, reducing the workload.

In this way, the latest version of Debian that will support this type of processors will be Debian 8.0 "Jessie", which will have official support until 2018, then it will be left to its own devices.
