If you are closely following the latest news from HDMI, you will know that HDMI 2.0b will be officially presented at CES in Las Vegas 2017. We are facing the new standard of video transmission, which we use for everything and that quite possibly you also use it without knowing it. What this update does is refresh and improve the characteristics of the current HDMI 2.0a, so it is very good news. Today we have learned new information about HDMI 2.0b, because we know that it will allow HDR content to be played.

On the official website, many of their news have been leaked to us. Do you want to meet them? We show you below.

What's New in HDMI 2.0b

These are the news that we find in the new version of HDMI 2.0b:

  • It allows to play HDR content. Bandwidth up to 18 Gbps. It will be able to play 4K /(2.160p).Up to 32 sound channels. Up to 1, 536 KHz of audio frequency. Dynamic synchronization of audio and video streaming. Maximum of 4 users playing audio streaming (and viewing streaming from different users on the same monitor). Support for ultra panoramic 21: 9. CEC extensions.

These are all the news that will be coming with the new HDMI 2.0b. For this, we have to wait for CES 2017 in Las Vegas to know all the news, because they still surprise us with some feature that we do not expect.

A great novelty: it will allow you to play HDR content

Actually, HDMI 2.0 does support HDR. But it uses a half-past spec (and some more modern HDRs don't squeeze the most if we go for an external source). So this new HDMI 2.0b, would come to solve this problem with a new specification, and other news that as we have seen in the previous list, is much better.

The great news is that our suspicions that HDMI 2.0b will be backwards compatible with HDMI 2.0 are confirmed. You will not have to buy other cables or devices.

Soon at CES in Las Vegas 2017 we will know everything.
