Yesterday was three years since the last update of the Mac Mini. On October 16, 2014 Apple released the current version of its most compact and affordable computer. Since then, and despite the desire of many users, the team has received no additional updates. Nor does it appear that he will receive them in the immediate future.

The Mac Mini is the one that is

The Mac mini is Apple's most affordable computer, although to use it you will need to have your own mouse, keyboard and monitor, which are not included. The current version still runs Haswell processors and integrated Intel HD 5000 / Intel Iris Graphics.

The price of the Mac mini starts at € 555.59 for its basic configuration with 1.4 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processing, 4 GB of RAM, 500 GB hard drive and Intel HD Graphics 5000, which which puts you at a much more advantageous price than the cheapest iMac (€ 1, 305.59).

Before the 2014 update, the Mac mini was updated in the years 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, so never before has such an extensive period passed without updates, three years.

Today, many users, both individuals and companies, are eagerly waiting for a new Mac mini. When the company announced plans for a modular Mac Pro, Apple's chief marketing officer Phil Schiller said the Mac mini "is an important product" along the company's lines, so Apple is not expected to go abandon this product although we already know that Apple's twists are often surprising.

At the moment there are no rumors about an upcoming Mac Mini update, beyond a single rumor from Pike's Universum hinting at a new high-end mini Mac with a redesign that "will no longer be so small."

In any case, given that we have already passed the half of October and there are no rumors, it seems unlikely that we will see an update of the Mac mini in 2017, but it could arrive sometime in 2018.
