The creator of oddworld says that 'nintendo killed iwata'
Table of contents:
Some of the best news of the week have nothing to do with hardware, but rather the explosive statements by Oddworld creator Lorne Lanning, who is handing out some harsh words against Nintendo Switch for the scant opportunities they give third-party developers..
"No third party support"
In a taped interview in April (but released only to non-subscribers this week), Lanning told Kinda Funny:
Lanning cited Nintendo for failing to support third-party games. He explained:
"Nintendo killed Iwata"
Later, Lanning makes a statement that is perhaps somewhat unfortunate, in which he blames this Nintendo policy for the death of Iwata, we imagine in a somewhat metaphorical way:
Either way, it is not the first developer to accuse Nintendo of its poor support for studies that are not in the orbit of the Japanese company. It remains to be seen if this changes with Switch, which is having significant worldwide success, but how long will that success last without the support of third-party companies? Only time will tell.
