Nvidia's sales report confirms poor sales of the rtx series

With NVIDIA's launch of the RTX 20 series late last year, there has been a growing consensus that while the features offered might be impressive, they weren't exactly eye-catching for consumers. This is perhaps a little surprising. Especially when you consider that AMD has very little to offer in terms of comparative performance.

NVIDIA's gaming industry revenue is down about 45%

However, in a report through Wccftech , Nvidia's quarterly sales report confirms that both RTX 2070 and RTX 2080 graphics cards have sold poorly for the company.

Huge drop in revenue in the gaming sector

Although NVIDIA had 21% revenue growth over the same period last year, based on the same figures from the previous year (a year that saw no particularly notable company releases), the report shows that revenue in the 'gaming' sector have dropped by around 45%. This is clearly a very disappointing figure when you launch a new series of graphics cards.

Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, said: “2018 was a record year, but it was a disappointing ending. This quarter, we hope to leave inventory issues behind and get back on track. As pioneers of accelerated computing, our position is unique and strong. And the opportunities that lie ahead in the field of high-performance graphics computing, AI, and autonomous machines remain enormous. We are as excited about these growth opportunities as ever. ”

Why is the GeForce RTX series selling so poorly?

The answer to this question seems very obvious, the price. Every time something is said about NVIDIA's RTX series, the community response is always the same. This has nothing to do with the performance they are offering, but their costs are too high right now to be worth that outlay. Meanwhile, the GTX series continues to perform superbly even in the mid-range, with products like the GTX 1060.
