The new Intel Core-X series processors have impressive overclocking capabilities, as recently demonstrated by demos published on the web where it can be seen that the 10-core Intel Core i9-7900X CPU reaches 5GHz with cooling AIO.

New Intel Core-X processors bring extensive overclocking capabilities

The Intel Core i9-7900X is the new 10-core 20-thread CPU that has arrived to replace the Core i7-6950X. This chip will come with 10 cores, 20 threads, and a new Skylake architecture, with a total of 13.75MB of cache (or around 1, 375MB per core).

The frequencies of each core are maintained at 3.3GHz as standard and 4.3GHz using the Intel Turbo 2.0 function and 4.5GHz using the Intel Turbo 3.0. Also, this processor will have 44 PCIe Gen 3.0 lanes and a TDP of 140W.

Overclocking the Intel Core i9-7900X with liquid cooling

But the most impressive thing of all is the enormous overclocking capacity that this new processor brings, recently launched a user named Der8auer has published a demo on the web where it is clearly seen that it has reached 4.8GHz in all 10 cores and 20 threads of the Intel Core i9-7900X in combination with a Corsair AIO 280 liquid cooling system. Soon after, the same processor was slightly modified and the thermal paste was changed to liquid metal.

Using liquid metal instead of thermal paste allowed the processor to reach 5 GHz in all 10 active cores, with temperatures ranging from 88 to 91 degrees Celsius.

Intel Core i9-7900X overclocking with air cooling

In another video posted by the famous overclocker “ Lucky Nob ”, the Core i9-7900X was over-clocked to 4.5GHz by using an air cooler, which only featured a 120mm fan. The most interesting thing in this case is that the voltage was only 1.15V and 4.5GHz was obtained on all cores, which allowed the processor to achieve a score of 2445 points in the Cinebench R15 test.

The Intel Core i9-7900X will go on sale with a price of about $ 1, 000, and although it seems expensive, it should be noted that the company sold the Core i7-6950X last year for more than $ 1, 500.
