The next range of AMD APUs, dubbed Raven Ridge, are known to feature the latest Zen processors and Vega graphics. Although its arrival is not expected until later this year, a recent benchmark has revealed the Radeon Vega 8 and Vega 10 Mobile graphics units.

AMD Radeon Vega 8 and Vega 10 Mobile mobile graphics appear in Raven Ridge benchmarks

These new graphics units should not be confused with the graphics chips used in desktop PCs and whose name is Vega 10. These graphics are found in the recent RX Vega 64 processors. Thus, the Radeon Vega 8 and Vega 10 Mobile They are new mobile chips that will act as integrated graphics solutions along with AMD's next range of APUs.

According to the OpenCL benchmark, the Ryzen 7 2700U processor will house the AMD Radeon Vega 10 Mobile graphics chip, while the Ryzen 5 2500U will incorporate the AMD Radeon Vega 8 Mobile GPU. Interestingly, the GFXBench benchmark indicates that the Vega 8 Mobile chip brings more computing units than the Vega 10 Mobile model, specifically 11 UCs and 704 Stream processors vs. 8 UCs and 512 Stream processors, respectively.

However, it is still very early information that has not yet been confirmed by the company, so we cannot say with certainty whether these early benchmarks could be representative of the final product.

Both APUs are expected to arrive later this year as part of the AMD Ryzen 2000 series, the first to include Ryzen Mobile chips. A little later (probably in early 2018) the arrival of Ryzen Pro Mobile chips will take place, aimed at business devices.

Still, these new APUs are sure to offer decent graphics and processing performance. For this Christmas we will most likely see the first Ryzen Mobile chip laptops in stores.
