Since about a month ago, various details about a kind of Facebook interface connected to the human brain have started circulating on the web. Mark Zuckerberg has just confirmed this new project now.

What is the Facebook Building 8 project?
"What would it be like if you could just type with your mind?" This was Regina Dugan's first statement at the time she took the stage during the annual Facebook F8 conference. A video demonstration followed shortly thereafter where a woman in a Stanford lab could type up to 8 words per minute using only her mind.
In the long term, the person in charge of the Building 8 project hopes that the day will come when everyone can chat with their friends without having to touch the keyboard of their mobile or PC, and at a speed of approximately 100 words per minute, which is about 5 times faster than typing on a modern smartphone.
"Brain activity contains much more than just related information about how a word sounds or how it is spelled correctly, it also includes semantic information about those words." That is, one day it will be possible to communicate with other people in the same efficient way and without having to use your hands, according to the Facebook researcher.
Another interesting part of this new project has to do with the way the receiver on the other side catches the words. This appears to be done in silent mode using several tiny motors and skin-level feedback sensors.
In theory, this experience will be similar to that of Braille speakers. Although we have no idea when this system could reach Facebook users around the world, the researcher responsible for the project has every hope for its success.
"You could think in Mandarin and feel in Spanish. We are all programmed to communicate and connect with each other, ”said Dugan.
