Fifa 18 is 'cracked' on launch day
Table of contents:
FIFA 18 was launched yesterday, confirming for another year that it is the best soccer video game today. With a simultaneous launch on the XBOX One and Playstation 4 consoles, eyes were on the PC version for a particular reason.
FIFA 18 owned the latest version of Denuvo
Last year FIFA 17 for PC had a new version of the Denuvo anti-piracy protection, which managed to remain undamaged for long months and could only be violated in July of this year.
FIFA 18, for its part, had the latest version of Denuvo, in which EA placed all confidence that its soccer video game would stay away from pirates, at least for a time. EA and Denuvo's mission has failed miserably, with protection cracked in less than a day.
On the same day that FIFA 18 launched, a fully cracked full version of the game was already circulating online, a fate similar to that of Warhammer II that came out in the last few hours.
The fact that the Denuvo protection could be cracked in a matter of hours, surely makes developers wonder if it is really worth investing money in. Is it worth spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in Denuvo for it to be violated the same day the video game is released?
These are questions we've asked ourselves before with other iconic game cases, like Resident Evil 7 or Mass Effect Andromeda, but none of them had been cracked on launch day. What future does Denuvo have? Will they keep adding it in the next PC games?
