HP has unveiled its X360 Envy notebooks that are based on a Ryzen APU processor. In doing so, the first details of AMD's Ryzen Mobile APU are in evidence. The laptop uses a Vega 8 GPU that does not use HBM2 memory, but DDR4 memory to function.

The first APU Ryzen processors are coming to notebooks from different manufacturers to compete with Intel, which is dominating this market from end to end.
It had been commented that these new APU Ryzen processors, which have a VEGA GPU, were going to use the new HBM2 memories, taking into account that RX VEGA graphics cards are already using it for desktop computers, as this will not be the case.
TweakTown colleagues noticed this in a thread on the Linus forums. The DDR4 memory used by the laptop is shared by the CPU and the GPU. The Envy x360 was equipped with 8GB of RAM, 256MB of which is available for the GPU. The Vega 8 Mobile APU has 8 NCU Vega operating with a speed of 300MHz and reaches a maximum speed of 1.1GHz, as we can see in the section of options of the Crimson controllers.
Early tests have shown that Ryzen 5 laptops perform much better graphically than Intel's UHD Graphics 620, in addition to beating the Nvidia Geforce 940MX GPU, but not the Geforce MX150. More Ryzen Mobile products are expected to launch in January 2018 at CES in Las Vegas.
