The popular Halide camera app has been recently updated to version 1.10. In this new version, its developers have introduced new features including support for Smart RAW on the new iPhone XS and iPhone XR, as well as a redesigned application for the new Apple Watch Series 4.

Halide lets you take better advantage of the iPhone's camera features

The Smart RAW function works using a new automatic technology incorporated in the new Apple iPhone XS and iPhone XR to get the best photos in RAW format. Thanks to this, users will be able to take better images and get more out of the iPhone's camera.

According to developer Sebastiaan de With, Halide's automatic exposure on the iPhone XS is already optimized for the lowest possible ISO and highest degree of detail, making the Smart RAW feature unnecessary on the iPhone 8 and iPhone X, which they lack it. However, the benefit will be greater on the iPhone XS and XR due to the new built-in sensors.

The Smart RAW feature is turned on by default and promises to dramatically reduce noise and provide better lighting for RAW photos taken with automatic exposure.

The Halide update also adds an option to compare JPEG images with their equivalents in RAW format, while its version for the apple watch has been improved allowing better use of the larger screen size of the Apple Watch Series 4.

On the other hand, the application has also been “cleaned” which has reduced its size by half compared to the previous version.
