Hp z8, the super
Table of contents:
One of the most powerful computers you can get today is updated, the HP Z8. This team comes with two Intel Skylake-SP Xeon processors working together, totaling about 56 processing cores.
HP Z8 with 56 cores, 1.5TB of memory and 48GB HBM2
Specifically, we are talking about a tower that comes with two Intel Xeon Platinum 8180 processors working at frequencies of 2.50 / 3.80 GHz. This gives us a total of 56 cores and 112 threads of execution (HyperThreading), which is accompanied by 1.5TB of DDR4 @ 2666 MHz RAM. This amount of RAM can reach 3TB when HP adds a new configuration in early 2018.
Continuing with the configuration of this beast, we can choose four different graphics card models, Nvidia Quadro GP100, AMD Radeon Pro WX 1900, Nvidia Quadro P6000 or Quadro P5000 in SLI or CrossFire configurations, to add about 48GB of HBM2 memory.
The storage will be able to choose between different configurations between HD or SSD drives.
To power all the equipment, it has a 1700W power supply. HP did not want to reveal the price of this equipment, but to give us an idea, the basic model of the HP Z8 costs $ 2, 440 with an Intel Xeon Bronze 3104, along with the AMD FirePro W2100 graphics (2GB DDR3) and 16GB of RAM (along with the other components). It would be necessary to make the calculations of the price that HP will put based on the basic model, but since it will not be cheap at all.
What could you do with such a computer?
