The HTC Vive virtual reality glasses were launched last year with relative success, although they did not explode as many believed. With the HTC glasses already consolidated in the market as well as Oculus Rift, the Chinese company wants to take the next step and is already preparing a version of its glasses designed exclusively for mobile phones.

HTC Vive glasses for mobile later this year

The idea of HTC is to launch a virtual reality device to use it with its new U Play Ultra phones, as Google did with its corresponding Daydream or Samsung with its Gear VR glasses, but with a higher quality product. The objective of HTC is to position itself with a product that surpasses Samsung and Google in the field of virtual reality for mobile phones, but without this having an impact on an overly expensive device.

The Asian manufacturer is currently developing these glasses and expects that they will go on sale later this year or at least present it for those dates. A virtual reality glasses for mobile phones could be an interesting option to avoid paying for a computer that is capable of reproducing this type of content, but HTC should review its strategy well.

If they are only going to be compatible with their next U Play Ultra phones, that would mean that we will not only have to pay for the glasses, also for the phone, which is not that it is very famous.

For now, HTC is showing a new strategy of not making more smartphones for the low-end and focus only on the upper-middle range with its next U Play & U Play Ultra that are already available to pre-order.
