During Intel's latest financial report, the company's acting chief executive officer Bob Swan reiterated that 10nm Ice Lake- based systems will be available in volume before the end of this year.

10nm Ice Lake will be ready for the holiday season

Ice Lake is the next generation of Intel processors that will arrive to replace Coffee Lake. One of the main changes that Ice Lake brings is the increase of the L1 and L2 cache. The L1 cache will increase to 48 KB, and the L2 cache will be 512KB in size, double the previous generation in both cases.

After many delays, Intel appears to be ready to bring Ice Lake en masse later this year, with its corresponding jump to 10nm.

Later, Intel Chief Engineering Officer Murthy Renduchintala said he thinks 10nm looks better now than in the latest financial report.

Intel is being optimistic with this smaller node leap and its new CPU architecture. Still, AMD will continue to have the upper hand with its 7nm node, at least in 2019.
