HyperX has released the HyperX Cloud headphones licensed for Playstation 4. These circumaural headphones bear a great similarity both with the Revolve r that we analyzed a while ago, and with the Alpha model, and that is that they all belong to the same Cloud family. Do all of them have something in common? Of course, its quality. Kingston didn't waste his money creating a high-performance product division if it weren't for putting all the meat on the grill. HyperX wants us to have the best sound quality, comfort and durability. Once the helmets are well placed, let's see what the analysis holds for us.
Technical Features HyperX Cloud PS4
Unboxing
The HyperX Cloud comes in a box that, at first glance, changes the typical black and red colors of other models of the company for blue and white, more in keeping with the tones of Playstation 4. On the front you can see, printed in vinyl, the general design of the headphones. The components included in the package are broken down on the side:
- HyperX Cloud PS4 Headphones. Detachable Microphone. Quick Guide.
At the rear some of the features of the HyperX Cloud stand out.
When opening the box, we find the headphones very well protected by two plastic inserts that completely protect the product from suffering any blow or damage.
Headband design
The HyperX Cloud headphones stand out right out of the box, due to their combination of blue and black colors. The metallic blue color is more striking in one of the best-kept parts of these helmets, the headband that joins both headphones, this one is made of aluminum and this gives it greater robustness and durability to the set.
Unlike the Cloud Revolver model, the Clamping or force exerted by the headphones, can be slightly noticed, although it is not annoying for long sessions.
Surrounding the headband, we find a memory foam that allows the headphones to sit more comfortably on the head. The outer part has a stronger artificial leather with the screen printed HyperX logo. Both parts of this covering of the headband are joined by a blue woven thread, which shows how far the careful design goes.
On both sides of the headphones, where the covering meets the headband, rigid pieces finished with the Playstation logo in white have been placed.
Headphone Design
The pads are made of memory foam covered with synthetic leather, this foam, despite not having a high density, allows a comfortable and prolonged use.
The pads of these HyperX Cloud also continue to have Memory Foam technology from previous models, which adapt better to the contour of your head and better isolate external noise; However, if glasses are worn, it is possible to feel some discomfort after a certain period of use. The same occurs in hot climates or in the summer months, when it is more possible to feel some discomfort due to the heat. For the latter case, although we will have at any time the possibility of changing the pads for others, we can buy on the official website some made of thick cotton fabric that allow better breathability and cost € 8.99 in black or red.
On the outside, the headphones are made of hard plastic and have the brand's logo printed in blue. At the bottom edge of the left earbud, we have both the twisted cord outlet for the 3.5mm Jack plug, and a rubber cap covering the jack for the microphone. Something more and more habitual and that comes in handy for when we want to simply listen to something and not communicate.
Finally, inside each earpiece we will find dynamic 53-millimeter speakers with neodymium magnets.
Microphone and cable
The HyperX Cloud headphones include a detachable noise-canceling microphone. In this model, in addition, a padded foam that attenuates the sounds of breathing or wind has been added to the end of the microphone itself.
The cable that comes out of the HyperX Cloud is 1.3 meters long and is a braided type. It has a volume control and a switch to activate or deactivate the microphone. The 3.5mm Jack connector is 4-pole.
The total weight of the HyperX Cloud is 325 grams without a microphone and 337 with a microphone.
Sound quality
The quality and construction of headphones is important, yes, but let's go to the really important part. What does the HyperX Cloud for PS4 sound like? One of its main attractions is how crystalline the transmitted sound is, it is something that could be taken for granted but it is not the first time that a bad equalization of frequencies tarnishes the final result. So both the low, mid and high frequencies sound more than correct. All this in regards to gaming, to listen to music, they work very well but they are not the ideal headphones for that performance either.
For use with video games, the clarity and surround sound are more than satisfied, always taking into account the quality / price ratio.
The HyperX Cloud have an impedance of 41 ohms, which in the first case might suggest that this low resistance could offer greater power in terms of volume, but this is not the case. The power offered is good for playing any game smoothly, but for those who expect a very high volume, these are not your headphones.
The microphone and its cancellation function work quite well and the sound is clearly transmitted, during our testing in various online games, we had no problems communicating with our team. Something that is missing and is more and more common to see it included, is the Mic monitoring function that allows you to hear yourself in real time and avoid inadvertently yelling at your playmates.
Conclusion and final words of the headphones
With the launch of the HyperX Cloud for Playstation 4, the HyperX company has once again managed to create headphones that offer very good quality at a competitive price.
Admittedly, in this case, the quality of its build may even surprise you more than the sound quality itself.
We find a design that is comfortable and in turn very well managed to withstand the passage of time, although you have to be careful with the cables that go from the headband to the headphones.
We recommend reading the best headphones on the market
On the other hand, the sound is as good as could be expected from this brand, always referring to the gaming market, which is where it is aimed at. They just lacked, add some more extra power.
Without a doubt, its price of € 79.99 on Amazon comes to place it in a great position with respect to its quality / price ratio.
