Intel will add avx

One of the most important innovations of the Skylake-X architecture has been the inclusion of AVX-512 instructions that improve the performance of these new processors in data compression and decompression tasks, as always it is only a matter of time that the novelties arrive to the mainstream range and in this case it would be from the hand of the Cannon Lake processors.

Cannon Lake will come with AVX-512 and 8 cores in the mainstream range

Cannon Lake processors are more anticipated than May water, although it looks like the wait is going to be worth it. These processors will debut Intel's new 10nm Tri-Gate manufacturing process, which will allow a new level of energy efficiency in processors expected to arrive with a maximum of 8 cores for the mainstream range.

As if that were not enough, these processors will also include the AVX-512 instruction set that until now is exclusive to the company's HEDT platform. Right now AVX-512 is only present in the most powerful (and expensive) processors from Intel such as the Skylake-X, Skylake-W, Skylake-SP families and some computer equipment such as Xeon Phi Knights Landing and Knights Mill.

It seems that the AVX-512 implementation in Cannon Lake will go even further as the AVX512_IFMA and AVX512_VBMI commands will be supported, making the implementation more complete even than it is now with the Skylake-SP. This is not really a surprise, since we already know that computing is advancing by leaps and bounds and what today in the highest range in two years may have remained in the middle range or even less.

Intel has awakened from a lethargy in which it has been since 2011, the first step has been taken with the new Coffee Lake that have brought the 6 cores to the mainstream range, the next steps of the company will be to bring the 8 cores to said range alongside powerful AVX-512 instructions.
