We get new leaks about Intel Alder Lake-S, the next Intel platform. Will we have 10nm and LGA1700 socket? We see it inside.
After AMD's highly competitive products, the ball is on Intel's roof. Both the followers of the brand, and those who are waiting to make a PC, are waiting for the next launch of the new desktop chips. From China comes a leak of what would be Intel Alder Lake-S. Let's see what it is.
Intel Alder Lake-S LGA1700? 10nm?
This code name has been leaked in official Intel data. We know Comet Lake-S and Rocket Lake-S will be the next to come at Intel. On the one hand, Comet Lake would have 14 nm, up to 10 cores and 20 threads. On the other hand, Rocket Lake-S would continue with the 14 nm, but with a maximum of 8 cores and 16 threads.
Everything points to a supposed LGA1200, but there would be new motherboards of this 500 series. Therefore Alder Lake-S would be the next generation to these. Will we see the 10nm lithograph at Intel? We do not know at the moment.
With AMD using 7nm lithography, the blue giant has to soar in the desktop sector. Supposedly, this Alder Lake-S would be required to use LGA1700, adding 500 more pins. So, we might see DDR5 RAM soon, and even PCIe 5.0 support.
DDR5 memory would make sense because AMD's Zen 4 is expected to support this technology, and its release is expected by 2021 as well. Regarding the change of socket, the dimensions become important because LGA1200 will have a size of 42 x 42.5 mm, while LGA1700 will have a 45 x 37.5 mm socket.
At the moment, we do not have more information about this mysterious LGA1700. We will have to wait for more news to come from China or for one of the Intel executives to speak out.
Launching
