According to a new DigiTimes report, it appears that Intel's upcoming Basin Falls platform, which includes the Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X processors with the new X299 chipsets, will be unveiled during the Computex 2017 event, to be held May 30. to June 3. This means that the new processors will arrive two months ahead of schedule.

Intel roadmap for introducing its new processors

The company has also accelerated the launch of the Coffee Lake microarchitecture, which continues to use the 14nm process, although instead of arriving in January 2018, it will arrive next August 2017.

Skylake-X will feature 140W 6, 8, and 10-core processors, while the most powerful yet efficient model, the 1212W Kaby Lake-X, will only be marketed in quad-core versions initially. The launch of an Extreme edition of Skylake-X with up to 12 cores is also expected in August 2017.

These changes to Intel's release schedule are likely a direct consequence of the upcoming release of the 16-core Ryzen processors and the X399 platform, which could have even more cores.

For this reason, Intel is under pressure to renew its range of products in order to compete with the large number of cores that AMD will incorporate in its CPUs, in addition to being cheaper.

As for the Coffee Lake processors , planned for the third quarter of 2017 and based on the 14nm process, Intel could debut a new Z370 chipset at the same time as AMD in order to serve the enthusiastic and gaming market., Followed by H370, B360 and H310 chipsets a few months later.

Finally, it is believed that the Intel 300 series chipsets will feature WiFi 802.11AC Wave2, as well as USB 3.1 Gen2 connectivity.
