Intel cannon lake is delayed again, for the end of 2018

Intel Cannon Lake will be the first generation of processors manufactured under Intel's 10nm Tri-Gate process, these new chips are highly anticipated but it looks like we will have to wait longer than anticipated after Intel has announced its delay until the end of 2018.

Cannon Lake will arrive in late 2018

This is the fourth delay of the Cannon Lake processors that were expected for mid-2018, instead we will have a new version of Coffee Lake under the same 14 nm but with a maximum of 8 physical cores to offer excellent performance.

Notebook makers seem to have lost their interest in the Cannon Lake and plan to sidestep it in favor of its successor, Ice Lake which should arrive in 2019 as an upgraded version of the former. It would be a situation quite similar to that experienced with the Broadwell processors that arrived just before the Skylakes, releasing the 14 nm Tri-Gate.

Intel has been finding it harder lately to make its leaps in manufacturing processes, not surprising since it is getting closer to the limit of silicon. We have no choice but to continue sitting waiting for the Cannon Lake, hopefully there will be a fifth delay.
