Intel convinced Microsoft not to use arm chips on surface go

As Paul Thurrott reported, Intel "heavily requested" Microsoft to use its Pentium Gold CPU on the Surface Go instead of an ARM chip. Although a new Snapdragon CPU is likely to offer longer battery life, Microsoft was probably aware of the performance impact this would have had for Surface Go.

We know that devices with ARM chips and Windows 10 have a greater autonomy than other laptops, but their performances are usually very low. Qualcomm is working on this to deliver more powerful chips, but we are still a long way from seeing it in action.

Intel would have been there to convince Microsoft that the best choice was its low-consumption Pentium Gold 4415Y processor running 1.6 GHz, thanks to this chip, the autonomy of the team is approximately 9 hours, far from the 20 hours that it could offer with an ARM chip, but with higher performance for the most common tasks.

As for the Surface Go, the device has received many conflicting comments. Some love its portability and low price compared to the iPad, while others complain that it's just too 'slow' and too small. For $ 399, we can't be too demanding either. What do you think?
