In another sign of mounting pressure on AMD's Ryzen 3000 chips, Intel today announced that it will lower the price of its non-graphics F-series chips by as much as 20%, marking the first time the company has cut the price of its Intel Core series in a long time.

Ninth generation Intel Core F and KF series suffer from price cuts

Intel's F-series chips come with internal graphics disabled due to manufacturing defects that would normally render the chips unusable. The F-series chips arrived without any formal announcement from Intel in December 2018, as the company was mired in the throes of its continued shortage of 14nm production capacity.

When it was released, the processors hardly had any price differences compared to the iGPU-enabled variants, causing some controversy among the community.

Integrated graphics is useful for QuickSync , troubleshooting, or if the graphics card fails, but in most cases, the disabled graphics unit has no impact.

Price cuts affect both unlocked “KF” models and locked “F” models.

Intel's response to AMD's Ryzen onslaught has been slow, largely because the company has not resorted to slashing prices on existing models. Instead, the company has been adding more cores to its processor families with the launch of new models, and the increase in the number of cores is equivalent to a reduction in prices per core. Whether or not they have been successful with this strategy seems to have a clear answer with this recent move. We will keep you informed.
