The latest performance tests for the 6-core (and 6-wire) Intel Core i5-9600K processor have been leaked. The results were published on a Chinese video streaming portal and show both the stock performance and the chip's overclocking performance, which managed to reach 5.2 GHz.

New benchmark of the Intel Core i5-9600K overclocked at 5.2 GHz

The published performance tests come from synthetic test applications and not in games. Still, the results give us a good idea of what to expect from the new ninth-generation Core i5 processors, which will be available starting October 19.

The Intel Core i5-9600K is a 6 core, 6 thread piece with 9MB L3 cache. This makes it very similar to the Core i5-8600K. The difference is that it features higher clock speeds of 3.7 GHz as the base and 4.6 GHz in boost (1 core), 4.5 GHz (2 cores), 4.4 GHz (4 cores) and 4.3 GHz (6 cores). All of this is done on the same 95W TDP.

In the overclocking performance tests, we see that the chip was overclocked at 5.2 GHz with air cooling and a voltage of 1.507V (which is quite high). It is not known whether it was a manual overclock or an automatic overclock using the MSI Z390 MEG Godlike BIOS. The Core i5-9600K uses the new STIM (Welded Thermal Interface Material) and still temperatures went from 90C (Degrees) at full load on all cores. The culprit is probably the high voltage. The total power consumption of the system was 240W in the CPU.

We go to the results obtained by the Core i5-9600K

Cinebench R15

  • Core i5 9600K @ Stock: 1034 CB Core i5 9600K @ 5.2G: 1207 CB

CPU-Z

  • Core i5 9600K @ Stock: 528.8 Single-Core / 2919.1 Multi-Thread Core i5 9600K @ 5.2G: 619 Single-Core / 3579.7 Multi-Thread

X264 HD Benchmark

  • Core i5 9600K @ Stock: 37.55 fps Core i5 9600K @ 5.2G: 43.76 fps

The processor will retail for $ 262 when it becomes available next week.
