Intel core i7-10700f would have similar performance to i9

The launch of the Intel Core 'Comet Lake-S' series of processors is coming, and as we get closer to that point, performance results are emerging. This time we have to refer to the Core i7-10700F.

Intel Core i7-10700F is similar to i9-9900K in Cinebench R20 benchmarks

The Intel Core i7-10700F is expected to be an 8-core, 16-wire chip, with the leak showing a nominal clock speed of 2.9 GHz. Of course, that doesn't say anything about boost watches, but the figures for Performance shown shows that the chip scored 4781 points on Cinebench R20, with a single-core score of 492 points.

Compared to the Intel Core i9-9900K, it scored a total of 4, 997 points on the Cinebench R20. That tells us that the performance of the two chips is quite similar.

This would not be a surprise knowing that the specifications of both do not vary too much. The main difference between the two chips is that the i7-10700F seems to have a much lower clock speed of 2.9 GHz instead of 3.6 GHz for the i9-9900K, although that doesn't say much about boost speeds (and the i7-10700K has been seen driving up to 5.3 GHz with a nominal speed of 3.8 GHz.)

While it's not entirely clear yet when the new Intel CPUs will ship, they are slated to land sometime in April. The reason it takes so long is said to be because Intel is having trouble solving power consumption issues, which is no surprise since the i9-9900K was already over 200W of power without too much effort. We will keep you informed.
