The 12 TFLOPS figure rumored in the Xbox X Series has been officially confirmed earlier this week, along with some new details about the console's processor. Most of the scans that have been shared so far seemed to have ignored the performance of the console's CPU.
Xbox Series X would have a CPU power similar to the Ryzen 5 1600/1600 AF
John Prendergast has been taking a good look at what is currently known about the two next-gen consoles on his blog. He recently made a calculation on Xbox series CPU performance based on the latest revelations, including Phil Spencer's statement about the new console offering four times the performance of the Xbox One. After looking at various Cinebench results, using Also UserBenchMark for comparison, the analysis suggests that the processing power of the Xbox Series X CPU is at the same level as that of a Ryzen 5 1600/1600 AF, roughly equaling the power of the leaked APU FLUTE that emerged last year.
The full analysis, which goes quite in-depth, can be found here. It's based on incomplete information, as there's still a lot we don't know about Microsoft's next-gen console, but it's an interesting read anyway.
Last week, we also learned that the Xbox X Series is going to introduce Audio Ray Tracing, a new spatial audio feature. The console will also feature dedicated audio hardware acceleration, which was supposed to be discussed in a panel at the now postponed GDC 2020.

With the introduction of Hardware Accelerated Ray Tracing with the Xbox X series, we are able to enable a whole new set of scenarios, be it more realistic lighting, better reflections, we can even use it for things like spatial audio.
The Xbox X Series launches later this year worldwide. We will keep you informed about the console as soon as more news appears on it, that there are still details to know, such as the amount of RAM it will have, the storage space and more.
