- Intel Core i9-7900X & Intel Core i7-6950X
The new Intel Core i7-7800X, Core i7-7820X and Core i9-7900X processors have been passed through Geekbench showing impressive performance in both single-core and multi-core tests. A comparison has also been made with its AMD Ryzen equivalents.
Intel Core i7-7800X vs AMD Ryzen 5 1600X
First of all we have the Intel Core i7-7800X which is the input range of the new Skylake-X family with a 6-core and 12-wire configuration operating at base and turbo frequencies of 3.5 GHz and 4 GHz respectively. This chip features a 140W TDP, 28 PCIe lanes, and a quad chanel memory controller. With these specifications, it has been able to achieve a single-core score of 6134 points and a multi-core test score of 37344 points together with an X299 Xpower Gaming AC motherboard.
To put us in perspective, the Ryzen 5 1600X (3.6 GHz / 4 GHz) in its stock configuration is capable of achieving scores in the same tests of 4204 points and 25556 points respectively. Even overclocking at 5.4 GHz is still lower than Intel's solution with 5956 points and 36061 points.
Intel Core i7-7820X vs AMD Ryzen 7 1800X
We leap forward to find the Intel Core i7-7820X featuring the same 8-core, 16-wire configuration as the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X. It is the most powerful 8-core processor in the new Skylake-X family, it comes with 19MB of L3 cache and a base frequency of 3.6Ghz and a maximum turbo frequency of 4.5GHz when only one core is used. Its TDP remains at 140W.
The Intel Core i7-7820X reaches figures in the single-core and multi-core tests of 6034 points and 47032 points respectively, if we rescue the Ryzen 7 1800X score we see that it remains in 4387 points and 34647 points respectively.
Intel Core i9-7900X & Intel Core i7-6950X
Next we have the Intel Core i9-7900X with a configuration of 10 cores and 20 threads that bequeaths to succeed the Core i7-6950X based on the Broadwell architecture. Its cores operate at a base frequency of 3.3 GHz and a maximum frequency in turbo mode with a single core of 4.5 GHz, which is a beast for a processor with such a large number of transistors. His TDP remains at 140W and is expected for a price of approximately $ 999. This processor achieves a score in the same tests of 5647 points and 53041 points. Finally we see the Core i9-7900X with scores of 6158 points and 57806 points.
Without a doubt, Intel seems far superior to its rival for now, although let's not forget that the rivals of these Skylake-X will be the AMD Threadripper for the new X399 platform. For now it seems that the arrival of Ryzen has caused Intel to wake up.
