Intel has had a fantastic quarter and the company is literally selling every chip it can make. However, there is more good news and it has to do with its 10nm node.

Intel: 10nm performance is above expectations

Intel has officially stated that its 10nm returns are above expectations and that they are planning at least nine 10nm products for launch in 2020. Meanwhile, the 7nm Intel Xe Ponte Vecchio GPU is on track for the fourth quarter of 2021.

Intel is incredibly adept at improving architecture while staying on the same node, but considering that 14nm has been around for a long time, the move to 10nm is eagerly anticipated and will likely be a turning point in the company's history. Intel has further revealed that not only are returns above expectations, but they will also be rolling out a total of nine 10nm products in 2020.

Here are the main clues:

• Yields of 10nm are higher than expected. Nine 10nm products are expected to hit the market in 2020. Intel will increase its wafer capacity by 25% in 2020. The 7nm Ponte Vecchio GPU is on its way to fourth. quarter of 2021.

Intel's DG1 GPU is probably one of the 10nm products to be released later in the year. As for the other eight products, they likely consist of a mix of CPUs and FPGA / AI based products.

With Intel chasing a 2x scale factor for 7nm and switching to EUV as well, it appears that the company is set to introduce its first 7nm products (equal to TSMC 5nm) in the fourth quarter of 2021.
