It is very easy to go to the most expensive configuration if you have an unlimited budget, but for most mortals they are looking for a cheap gaming configuration and thus try to save every euro from their pocket as much as possible. For this purpose, Intel has launched its new Pentium G4560 dual-core, with 2 threads of execution and a frequency of 3500 MHz. This set is more than enough to accompany a mid-range graphics card and make the most of it.

Unfortunately, no store or manufacturer has offered us the sample for analysis. For this reason, we have purchased this unit in order to offer you one of the first reviews of the product in Spanish. We hope you like it!

Intel Pentium G4560 technical features

Unboxing and analysis

The box format is very similar to that seen in generations of processors with the multiplier locked. Classic design in blue and offers all the necessary information as soon as you see it.

Inside we find a plastic blister that protects the processor, the warranty brochure, a stock sink with pre-applied thermal paste and an adhesive sticker to stick it to our tower.

The Intel Pentium G4560 belongs to the Intel Kaby Lake family, it is a processor manufactured with the 14nm Tri-Gate process that reached the maximum maturity so it is possible to offer a more powerful solution than the previous generation without increasing the consumption.

Among its novelties we see the incorporation of 2 physical cores with 4 threads of execution thanks to the use of HyperThreading technology. This processor operates at a frequency of 3.5 GHz and has a cache of 3 MB L3. As expected, it has a low TDP of 54W and quite low consumption savings.

Regarding the built-in instructions, it has: MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, SSE4, SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AES, EM64T, NX, HT, VT-x, TSX, MPX and SGX. The integrated graphics card that it incorporates is the Intel HD Graphics 610 with a base frequency of 350 MHz, 1.05 GHz of dynamic frequency, compatible with resolutions 4096 x 2304 at 60Hz, support with DirectX 12 and OpenGL 4.4.

To check the stability of the Pentium G4560 processor in stock values. The motherboard we have stressed with Prime 95 Custom and air cooling. The graphics we have used is an Nvidia GTX 1080, without further delay, let's see the results obtained in our tests with a 1920 x 1080 monitor.

Benchmarks (Synthetic tests)

Here we have tested performance with the enthusiastic platform and the previous generation. The tests used? The following:

  • Cinebench R15 (CPU Score).Aida64.3dMARK Fire Strike.Intel XTU.

Game testing

The worse that we see between the Pentium G4560 on the i7-6700k and the i7-7700k refers exclusively that it is a low-end processor, although the HyperThreading helps a lot in its best performance, but it is not enough to reach an i3, i5 or the new i7. We see differences between 15-20 FPS.

Consumption and temperature

One of the improvements that has surprised us the most is the consumption of the complete equipment. As we can see the Pentium G4560 gets a total of 38W at rest while at maximum performance the entire team stays at 195W.

While temperatures have more than acceptable 23ºC at rest and 45ºC at maximum stock performance. Since it cannot be overclocked stable (actually up to 102 BLCK) we have not inserted data.

Final words and conclusion about Intel Pentium G4560

As we have been able to verify that the new Intel Pentium G4560 is one of the most interesting processors because it offers a great result with the most groundbreaking price on the market today. It has a base frequency of 3.5 GHz, 3 MB of L3 cache, two cores and the novelty of incorporating 4 threads of execution (HyperThreading) and a very low TDP of 54W.

In our tests we have seen that to play many titles it shoots so well that it is worth turning it into a cheap bet to compete against consoles. But we found that Intel has ruled out incorporating advanced instructions: Specifically AVX, AVX2 or FM3 . So games like GTA V (which pulls AVX) notice a worsening. And it is once again shown that the processor has less weight in games and that the graphics does almost all the work.

If we decide to use the processor to render, compress video or do heavy tasks… the processor goes with the tongue out and does not perform as expected, for not incorporating those instructions. And it is there where an i3-6100 or i3-7100 spin many times, no matter how much HyperThreading the Pentium incorporates.

Temperatures and consumption are quite mild, making the Pentium G4560 a real lighter. For example, the stock sink already has enough to keep it cool.

Now the question arises: How will it age? Well we see that currently it is a processor that has come to do a lot of damage to AMD: games, HTPC or office equipment. But its aging with DirectX 12, will begin its decline and we will have to upgrade to a new processor or, failing that, a new platform. Currently there is not much stock but we have acquired it for a price of 56 euros (shipping included).
