During Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019, Intel announced the Intel FPGA N3000 Programmable Acceleration Card, which is being designed so that service providers can offer virtualized radio access network solutions and accelerate 5G connections.

Intel FPGA PAC N3000 for Networks is designed to accelerate network traffic of up to 100 Gbps and supports up to 9 GB DDR4 and 144 MB of QDR IV memory for high performance applications. The programmability and flexibility of an FPGA enables customers to create custom solutions using reference IPs for acceleration workloads of network functions such as vRAN, vBNG, vEPC, IPSec and VPP.
