Intel skylake will support ddr3 and ddr4

Anonim

At the IDF14 Intel announced that its new Skylake processors manufactured at 14nm will be compatible with both DDR3 and newer DDR4 memory modules, allowing more affordable access to the new platform for users with tighter budgets.

This will be possible thanks to the inclusion of a double memory controller (IMC) Able to work with both generations of RAM, however not all Skylake ranges will be equipped with this dual controller since some processors will only be compatible with DDR4 and others only with DDR3.

According to Intel itself Until mid-2016 we will not see DDR4 RAM as a slightly more expensive option than DDR3, having to wait until the end of 2016 to see DDR4 memory as a cheaper option than DDR3.

In the second half of 2015, the first Skylake i5 and i7 processors will arrive, at which time we can acquire 16GB of DDR4 RAM for approximately 150 euros.
