Intel made the announcement of its upcoming Z390 chipset official by posting the full specs on its official site. The Intel Z390 chipset has been rumored since last year as a successor to the conventional Intel Z370 chipset, but it appears that they both share the same features with just a few additions that were also integrated into the 300 series chipsets (H370, B360, Q370, H310) .

Intel made the announcement of its next Intel Z390 chipset official

The Intel Z390 PCH block diagram shows two very interesting things. The Intel Z390 chipset is not a huge leap over the Z370 chipset. Second, the chipset has brought the same feature set that was recently released on entry-level motherboards, but that were not in the Z370 lacquers that launched last year.

These new features are now available on conventional motherboards (excluding the Z370 chipset):

  • Intel Wireless-AC 802.11 AC and Bluetooth 5.0 Intel Wireless AC Adapter Up to 6 USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports

On Z370 motherboards, manufacturers who want to offer these features have to turn to third-party drivers, which increases costs. Z390 chipset motherboards will have solutions that will make use of the chipset as long as all its features save costs, while high-end motherboards can still opt for third-party drivers to offer better capabilities.

The Intel chipset is released on dates close to AMD's Z490, which would be offering greater I / O capabilities than current X470 motherboards. We hope that the first motherboards will appear at Computex 2018.
