Jingjia Micro (short for Changsha Jingjia Microelectronics) has allegedly started development of the company's next generation of JM9271 GPUs and claims it will be as fast as an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080.
JM9271, China develops a GPU with the performance of the GTX 1080
Formally established in 2006, Jingjia Micro is an integrated Chinese military-civilian company specializing in the design and production of electronic components. The company has begun to receive accolades, such as the production of the JM5400, China's first national GPU. The JM5400 is based on a fairly primitive 65nm manufacturing process. However, it later replaced many of the archaic ATI M9, M54, M72, and M96 GPUs that are frequently used in Chinese military aircraft. Following the success of the JM5400, Jingjia Micro moved from the 65nm node to the 28nm node and added the JM7000 and JM7200 GPUs to its arsenal.
Jingjia Micro's strengths are graphic display and control products and small specialized radars.

According to the cnBeta report, the JM9231 and JM9271 will be Jingjia Micro's next high-performance GPUs. The first has a performance close to that of a GeForce GTX 1050, while the second has performance figures similar to those of a GeForce GTX 1080. In terms of TDP, Nvidia obviously has the advantage. Pascal powered graphics cards use the 16nm process node, while Jingjia Micro's offerings continue to depend on the 28nm manufacturing process.

The JM9231 is expected to arrive with a boost clock above 1, 500 MHz, 8GB of GDDR5 memory, and a TDP of 150W. The JM9271, which is probably the flagship model, comes with all the details, such as support for the PCIe 4.0 interface and up to 16GB of HBM (High Bandwidth Memory). It is rated at a TDP of 200W and allegedly features a boost clock that surpasses the 1, 800 MHz mark.
The planned JM9231 and JM9271 GPUs could be exclusively for military use, but it is suggestive that China already has the technology to develop such powerful graphics chips. Could any other Chinese brand enter the graphics card market? We will keep you informed.
